I didn't really like this film either -- it was too sadistic.

You can get through a lot of films in two 24 hour flights. Films I saw on the planes: Outward: In My Father's Den (NZ film, brilliant brooding Brit but a touch melodramatic at the end), Out Of The Blue (for my money the best NZ film of the current batch, I only wish that Sarkies would make a film about something more everyday), Fracture (faithful to Wellington locations but hopelessly melodramatic), Borat (a bit embarrassing when sitting next to someone who is watching The Queen), Flags Of Our Fathers, Last King Of Scotland (gave up after 20min, couldn't stand to watch pretty boy Scots doc any longer), The Prestige (nodded off after 1 hour). Return: Galaxy Quest (slightly amusing), Chinatown (what a classic, Jack Nicholson before the days of self-parody), Edward Scissorhands (ditto Johnny Depp), World's Fastest Indian (feel-good NZ movie in old fart genre), The Departed (Jack Nicholson in self parody, Matt Damon typecast as clean cut villain, DiCaprio would be the best actor here, let down by bloodthirsty ending and contrived psychiatrist subplot), The Wind That Shakes The Barley (creepy Black and Tans).

Arrived back in NZ three days ago. Have since exchanged mild jet lag for moderate sunburn. UV is very strong here. Unfortunately can't post any photos yet as camera battery is flat and have lost recharger. Wellington City has extraordinarily beautiful geography.

Had the weirdest dream the night before last. Put it down to a combination of mixed drinks and a salty meal. The dual alcohol and salt woke me up three times with the dry horrors. Anyhow, the third time in my dream there was this 'secret agent' who inoculated me with some chemically retarded form of cyanide. I found out that it was inhibited only by a chemical interaction with alcohol. The moment the drinks wore off, I would die an agonising death! So in order to stay alive, I just had to keep on drinking and drinking and drinking. Fancy that!
