Anybody using the very popular Google Reader Notifier extension for Firefox should probably remove it immediately, as it is now tracking your browsing and displaying ads in your status bar without your consent. Despicable.

I remember learning in Sunday school a few years ago from our youth literature about Hitler's faith. It's interesting to come across pictures. Of course, I believe Hitler only mixed in Christianity to get more followers.

The third example was a little weak, although the rest of the article was okay. We are under the new covenant of Christ, but even in the New Testament homosexuality is noted as a sin and as being unnatural and harmful to the body. However, the point remains even with a weak example.

At least in my case as a theist (and a Christian) I do not do what God commands because I am afraid that "supreme being will set you on fire." For I am saved of grace, not on good works or anything I could do of my own accord.

LOLCat Bible Translation Project

The naming is inconsistent between Bible people in the Bible (and even between distinguising between Yashua and Yahweh).

However, the translation is a very poor quality paraphrase overall. We're going to look at a couple of verses from James for an example.

James 1:19
"STFU when Ceiling Cat is talking. Also chill out, no TKs." (LOL)
"Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; " (ESV)

First, the harmony of the scripture is removed with the start of this first. Ephesians 4:29, even as translated in the LOLCat BTP, says no trash talking, whlie "STFU" is an abbreviation for an expletive that is definitely considered this. We also lose that is being addressed to the beloved brothers and that we need to be slow to anger. The rest of the verse is crudely paraphrased into something that hardly means the same thing.

James 1:21
"And stop DL so much porn." (LOL)
"Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls." (ESV)

While we could definitely consider porn to be an example of wickedness, this restricts a verse that is talking about ALL of this wickness and filth and reduces it to a single issue. And it misses the most important part of the verse completly! It takes one tiny tiny part of half the verse and makes it the whole verse.

I could do this for many verses. James is a book that is very dear to my heart. I was shocked to see how badly and hastily this project was done. While I realize that this translation was done in humor, however so much is added and removed from the text that it shouldn't even be called a Bible translation project.
