Titi Freak is an amazing artist from Brazil with a show at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery in NYC. If you are a fan of street art, I am, this is A MUST SEE SHOW. Spray paint on canvas takes on a new context when viewed against white walls. While the following shot is not from his recent show, it is my fav piece.

So I recently viewed the film "This Film Is Not Yet Rated" and was shocked to see the corruption in the movie ratings system. I mean here's an organization that can kill indie films if the studios see a competitor just by affecting the rating of a film... It has again opened up my eyes to the corruption going on around me...

Every Tuesday in the music biz, new releases hit the street. And every Tuesday I sit and wait for the next band since, Janes Addiction/Nirvana/Alice In Chains/etc turned the music scene on its head.

I've been waiting a long time. Then, yesterday, I come across a band called Black Mountain who released a cd called 'In The Future' this past Tuesday, 01/22/08. Now I'm not saying they will have the same effect Nirvana had when every kid heard 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' (although Kurt would go on later to say that the song was tooo slick for his own listening enjoyment). But this is the first sign that the underground is turning to rock. Rock in a way that would make Jimmy Page smile. My advice, see this band when they are still playing small clubs so you can one day say I saw them when...

So the New Year starts off fresh. New job, new money, new life. Sounds good, right? Wrong. Too good to be true. When there's massive movement in a company, mainly people leaving, there's usually good reason. So there I was, let go after two weeks on the job because of reasons I'll never know. But I do know that five people in the company, major publisher/print/online, were responsible for the same job I was performing. Needless to say there was tremendous overlap and expected layoffs. I was just the test.

And so goes the world of big business. Figuring out ways to exploit sites like this, people like me. Advertisers trying to cash in on the next big widget. And the only hope of salvation is seeing Gene Simmons get fired on The Apprentice. Have we come full circle yet. Who knows. 2008 promised so much and like all New Years, has been a big let down. It's the year of the rat, hopefully the rats won't win...

To Do List 08: Ignore all forms of advertising... Buy green... Move to New Hampshire, maybe New Mexico... Maybe France...
