Social networking and media today is frequently bringing the complaint that folks are commenting on our work all over the place. My blog post might show up here in StumbleUpon for example, and folks comment over here. Or on FriendFeed and get commented and favorited there. Now how the heck do I as a blogger figure that out?

One way is that visitors will come in from those places. But that rarely gives us a hint of who liked it.

Perhaps sites like StumbleUpon and FriendFeed need to provide ping backs to the original blog post, much like regular blogs do. What do you think?
