I work as a civil servant for the Flemish Government. All nautical publications of the Flemish Hydrography go through my hands: tide tables, tidal flood warning brochures, a cover for a set of maps of the Scheldt, Notices to Mariners, Signs and Abbreviations (used on nautical charts), current atlases, etc. I know it sounds boring, and it usually is.

At night and on the weekends, though, my life is not boring anymore!

Photographs are a way to capture a moment that otherwise may be lost. Some traditions cannot be done full justice without a picture. In some places, literacy is not a luxury. Whatever the reason, we encourage anyone to email us a photo or video of their life at ourcommonexperience@gmail.com.
