I'm all for being aware of the dangers of government impinging on the rights of the citizenry and for calling out against the harmful actions of cops. But this film is heavily edited - how nice that every time the cops say "why" someone is worth inspecting the speaking becomes [inaudible] and never shows the full story. The overhyping of the actions of the police is disgusting. The majority of those cops are doing their jobs, and are standing around, not doing anything, and they are subject to all sorts of verbal abuse by the "peaceful" protesters. This is not a police state. This doesn't even compare to modern police states like Burma, or China, or half a dozen other nations.

Do we need to watch out for infringements of our rights? Yes, absolutely. But this one video doesn't prove that they are being infringed. Just like the Rodney King video didn't show that King deserved what he got for ignoring the police, resisting arrest, and breaking the law in the first place. I don't suppose he was just exercising his rights and practicing civil disobedience was he?

That's the thing about civil disobedience though. If you're going to do it, be willing to suffer the consequences. The police tell you to disperse because your permit to block the streets has expired, then you ought to do it. Don't get confrontational, don't get pissed off if a car runs you over because you're impeding traffic. Get a brain.
