... it's simply not usefull to try and glean usefull information from someone who has made it very clear that they are perfectly willing to make up anything to support their ideas; how can you trust anything they say? and i'm sorry, but i really would not want to be the one trying to explain your views to the poor hippies and thier loved ones 20 years from now when they're dying of skin cancer. that just really crosses the line, giving obviously life-threatening, dangerouse advice to people in the name of pseudo-science. and the whole "pretending to use science to talk trash about science" thing is just rediculous. if you want to have a usefull argument against science, you must be scientific about it, and you can't just be scientific only when it suits you. if you really can't stand science and the billion ways you use it every day (can you pronounce deoxyribonucleic acid? cause you wouldn't friggin exist without it!), you are perfectly capable to going back to living off the land in the wilderness, but i REALLY doubt anyone here is going to do that and leave behind ALL of the modern conveniences, health care, and tons of other knowledge and live in superstition once again (we are on the INTERNET, folks!!!). yes, corrupt societies and governments have done some effed up stuff with science, but you can NOT blame that on science itself! it is JUST a tool! a hammer can be used to build as well as kill. that doesn't mean we should ban and destroy all hammers.P

Female Subgenius Performance Artist Robbed of Child

so... most of you know that i've been a reverend of the church of the subgenius for a long time now. while it's hard to say one takes such a thing "seriously" in the traditional sense, it is a very important part of my life.

i only just recently became aware of a terrible violation of the human, living, legal, and artistic rights of one of our highest sisters, the Reverend Mary Magdalen. this case could set abominable precadence for the legalized judging of individuals based on theoretical "moral" appraisals of activities well into the artistic, creative, and expressionistic spectrum of human activity. of special interest is what seems to be a special class of persecution quite active in our legal system against female performance artists of many kinds.

appearently, the Reverend's child had been taken away from her by some random, fuck off judge in New York (where she and her ex once lived) due to the surprise evidence at a custody hearing from her psycho ex of pictures from the internet of performance activities at subgenius devivals and x-day (gatherings and holidays) of the usual subgenius celebritory activities such as nudity and religious parody. appearantly, child-custody laws give the judge near-supreeme power over cases, and there doesn't seam to be any way to appeal elsewhere, despite the fact that they've all been living happily in texas for years.

so, it looks like she got a lawyer that worked with Marilyn Manson on first amendment charges, but obviously they are badly in need of support, particularly monitary for paying all the amazing legal fees. i don't know what else we can do, other than spread the word, and try and contact the judge and politicians in new york, our own representatives, the supreme court, and the media.

this issue has hit me hard, on many levels, and i'm just trying to do as much as i can. i fear the day that something like this comes after me or someone close to me. in fact, friends of mine have had experiences like this, and this kind of thing is being used against female performance artist in many different ways today. it is primarily an attack against women, but could easily attack any of us one day. also, though Mary doesn't take it this way herself, i DO feel very directly religiously assaulted and oppressed by this action, not to mention socially and constitutionally.

if anyone can help in any way please do, and PLEASE repost this as much as possible!
