If You Charge For It, It Ain't a Tweet-up!

I bring this up because the Phoenix PRSA is organizing a meeting of its members. Its charging members to attend and calling it a Tweet-up. Now since when did Tweet-up's get hijacked like this? Well, for one thing, let me be clear, a Tweet-up can't be hijacked because any ad-hoc, spontaneous, free, social event organized via Twitter is a Tweet-up. However, in this particular case the name Tweet-up is being hijacked. In my estimation this event surely cannot be called a Tweet-up.

Pecans are considered to be a tree nut, which is in a different family from the peanut. Some people are still sensitive to tree nuts but, fortunately, tree nut allergies and peanut allergies are not necessarily one in the same. Some people with peanut allergies can still eat tree nuts while others cannot.

Still, CEOs want marketing partners that understand how to track, measure and communicate what's working, what's not, and why. That's why in our shop it's in our name: Analytics + Imagination = Results. AIR. We just don't want people to miss that it's what we're passionate about.

First of all, from a work orientation it was enlightening to realize the different attitudes about work that people have. For The Silent Generation, it's "Work First". For Boomers it's "Live to Work", for Generation X it's "Work to Live", and for Generation Y it's "Live, and then Work". Obviously this impacts marketing. How people view their work life and their family life definitely impacts how, when, where and why they make buying decisions.

Hey you! Don't let me catch you adding too many friends or messaging too many users or you'll wind up getting blocked! You may have seen it yourself, a warning dialog box which pops up and alerts you that your activity is of a rate similar to someone that is abusing the system (a spammer).

Social Marketing has caught on like wildfire in the past few years and has now captured the attention and investment of C level executives at some of the largest companies in the world. Blogs, YouTube, Myspace, and Facebook are no longer just for the early adopters. Companies that want to increase their brand awareness and most importantly, one to one relationship with their customers, must harness the power of Social Media and a company blog is a great place to start as the hub in the Social Marketing wheel.
