To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment

Ralph Waldo Emerson.

On Letting Go & Failure

To let go doesn't mean to stop caring; it means I can´t do it for someone else.

To let go is not to cut myself off; it's the realization that I can´t control another.

To let go is not to enable, but to allow learning from natural consequences.

To let go is to admit powerlessness, which means the outcome is not in my hands.

To let go is not to try to change or blame another; I can change only myself.

To let go is not to care for, but to care about.

To let go is not to fix, but to be supportive.

To let go is not to judge, but to allow another to be a human being.

To let go is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes, but to allow others to affect their own outcomes.

To let go is not to be protective; it is to permit another to face reality.

To let go is not to deny, but to accept.

To let go is not to adjust everything to my desires, but to take each day as it comes and to cherish the moment.

To let go is not to nag, scold, or argue, but to search out my own shortcomings and to correct them.

To let go is not to criticize and regulate anyone, but to try to become what I dream I can be.

To let go is not to regret the past, but to grow and live for the future.

To let go is to fear less and love more.

These are the instructions on how to let go. Perhaps it is letting go of a rebellious child, or a burden of sorrow; losing a loved one, or learning to live with a heartache which we just cannot let go of. Read this over. STUDY IT. PRAY OVER IT. And you will find that letting go of your load will release a peace within you which will allow your spirit to soar... to be free... and let a work be done within you where the need is anyway.

Treasure your failures, because they will lead you to success. Each negative result gets you closer and closer to the ultimate goal. If you're not failing, you´re not getting anything done. Failure is nothing to be ashamed of, but rather something to learn from. Often you can learn more from undesired results, than you can from something which works the way you planned.

To be a winner, you´ve got to keep stepping up to bat. Even if you struck out the last time, and the time before that. To each new attempt you bring more experience, more knowledge, more determination.

With each failure you greatly increase your chances of winning. It would be a shame to stop just short of your goal. Every day you're getting better and better. With each attempt you learn, and become more effective. The prize is closer than you think. You're becoming a winner. Keep it up for as long as it takes.

75 Simple Pleasures to Brighten Your Day - Every Thursday is Happiness Day on Zen Habits.

A little trick I like to use to make my days much more pleasant is to find little, simple pleasures and sprinkle them throughout my day. They're not big things, but they each simple pleasure can translate to a great day if you use them right.

So in the morning, I might have a cup of coffee, and sip it slowly to enjoy it fully. I might read a gripping novel, and revel in the world of fiction. I might watch the sun come up, and marvel at the world in pastel hues.

For breakfast, I might put berries on my cereal ... and I just love berries. I savor each one, closing my eyes. In the shower, I might also close my eyes, and just let the cool water run over me (I live on a tropical island, so cool water is a nice thing).

You get the idea -- these are little things, and don't really cost a thing (or not much, anyway), but they are tremendously satisfying. I thought it would be fun to compile a list of simple pleasures, to give you all some ideas of what I mean, and to spark other ideas of your own. Of course, you can probably come up with a thousand more, and it should also be noted that one person's pleasures aren't always pleasures for others.
