I understand that it's not easy for a director to be faithful to the book that he's filming and I also understand that there is something called artistic licence and liberty.

However, in the case of the latest Potter movie, I kept wondering if the scriptwriter and director had been on drugs when they wrote/made the movie.

Although, we're only months away from seeing Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in theaters, it seems as if the cast and crew are busy working away on the first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows. Not long ago, photos of a Shell Cottage that was built for Deathly Hallows, were released, and now it seems like everyone has showed up to start filming at the cottage

A Grand Conspiracy Theory From Pakistan
By Robert Mackey

The Web site Pakistan Daily is an Islamabad-based hub for Pakistani citizen journalism, promising Pakistani readers: "Your News. Powered by You." It is also an excellent place to turn if you want to read in on the latest conspiracy theories making the rounds in that country. Or just get very scared.

Somewhat disturbingly, the source for the "top story" on Pakistan Daily today is Pakistan's president, Asif Ali Zardari. As an anonymous article on the site reports accurately, in an interview with NBC News which aired on Sunday, Mr. Zardari claimed that he "knew" that Osama bin Laden was an American "operator" during the 1980s.

The Erection Commission Of India

The Election Commission of India has brought out a Handbook for Candidates (pdf link) this year that contains the following remarkable lines:

DEFACEMENT OF PUBLIC OR PRIVATE PROPERTY

Many of the State/Union territories have laws to prevent the defacement of property, which term includes any building, structure, hut, wall, tree, fence, post, pole or any other erection.

Writing in Dawn, Tariq Rahman decries the Talibanization of Pakistan, but explains why it seems attractive to ordinary people.

"They think it would bring them the justice they have always sought but never obtained. They think they will finally find the food they have always craved but never eaten. They think there will be electricity in their homes, water in their taps, schools for their children, and no bribery or humiliation in their daily lives. In short, ordinary folk desire justice, good governance and peace. They want to live without having to face the danger of being blown to smithereens by a suicide bomber.
