MY VERDICT ON TWITTER
I quite like Twitter, and it is useful. I can find out what people are saying about a particular subject, and I can choose to keep abreast of certain sites. The Guardian, for example, is putting more and more sections on Twitter. But Twitter is not nearly as good as SU, which is more engrossing and personal. Those on Twitter who I am "following"...well, I know very little about them.� I really enjoy my SU chats. But of course...SU and Twitter are not meant to be the same; each fulfils a different purpose.

Middlemarch
Since reading George Eliot's Middlemarch thirty four years ago I have regarded it as The Top Novel. I have reread parts of it, my favourite sections, but now I am reading it through again.� I really like the narrator's voice about the people and those times. This quote jumped out from the first chapter:

Sane people did what their neighbours did, so that if any lunatics were at large, one might know and avoid them.

Today is full of cooking, as I have friends for lunch tomorrow. I am including some of my best recipes: Cold Peking Pork, Sezchuan-style Augergine, and Pad Thai.� I hope to capture them on my camera. If the photos are OK I will post them on my new foodie blog, Sandy's Tried and True.

I just had to swipe this photo from Road-Toad's collection recording his recent road trip along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria (I haven't been down that road). It shows a black swan drinking water from a pipe. Thanks, Rod. I really love this one.

And when we arrived at the beach at Cape Tribulation in tropical north Queensland, I took these photos. This is where the rainforest meets the sea. We were told not to go into the water because of the presence of box jellyfish. Then it was a long and exhausting trip all the way back to Cairns.

One day in Brisbane, I walked all the way down Albert Street to the Botanical Gardens. I spotted a tortoise at pool's edge and quickly took some photos. I got up quite close before it retreated into the water.
