laptop still not running properly, so can't really get on su very much.
i have just noticed i've got over 150 pages sent to me in the last 2 or 3 days and would just like to say, please don't send any more page recommendations for a while cos i have a ridiculous back log. i'll probably still get sent them, tbh, cos quite a few of the senders virtually NEVER visit my page anyway, so will probably never see this, but that's ok - i get that a lot of people are all about self-promotion rather than actually genuinely caring about what people think of the pages they're flogging

if you are one of those rare few that sends me pages AND has the ocassional look at my reviews, cheers, but please put a pause on page sending cos i can't stumble on the bf's computer (i refuse to add the su button on there cos it's quite refreshing not being a slave to it!)
my laptop, mobile 'phone and hairdryer all decided to die on the same day, so i won't be stumbling until i've sorted the laptop out.
i can look in from time to time, on the computer, but that's my boyfriend's really, so i don't want to download stumble to it...i've already used up enough of his hard-drive with lots of my photo stuff :s
anyway, hopefully be back soon (ish)
edit: the more technologically minded one amongst us (clue: it wasn't me, my dog or the bf's cat) has discovered that my laptop stays on when unplugged, but i'm not pushing my luck and saying it's mended, just that i should be able to use it...for a while longer anyway *fingers crossed*

i can be quite vocal when it comes to saying what i like and don't like in reviews on stumble, but i never get too personal. i may chat about my dog or my boyfriend, from time to time, i may even mention stories, anecdotes that have happened to me, but i always keep a little back - that's my right.
my life is mine and what i do with it is really of no consequence to anybody on here - they know samdiablo, computer sam, not ReaLife Sam
of course, most people respect that (which i really do appreciate!) and don't cross the line, but some like to think they're different, an exception to the unwritten rule

lately i've been receiving a lot more page suggestions than usual and that's fine, but what isn't fine is when i get sent a few pages numerous times. if i didn't thumb it up the first time, it probably means i'm not interested. i don't need it to be sent a further four or five times - i'm not the kind of person who'll thumb something up just because somebody else thinks i should.
so, mostly, i ignore the multiple sends and get on with stumbling stuff i actually do like.
i don't, as you can imagine, appreciate being sent snotty DMs pointing out i haven't thumbed those pages up and can i cos 'i'd really like you to review it'. here's an idea, why don't you review it if you like it that much?!

i'd never dream of sending some-one something, then, on seeing how they haven't commented on or reviewed it, pester them to do so.
on the rare ocassions that i do send pages, i send links that i think the stumbler would be genuinely interested in. i wouldn't send a friend who mainly shares my love of animals an article on grunge and insist they comment, that's almost harassment.
plus, i think sending ANY other stumbler more than one or two messages a day is a little OTT. i don't live on stumble - it may say i'm on-line most of the time, but that's cos i don't log out...
i do have a life outside of here and, crazy as it may seem, i enjoy that life. stumbling is a bit of escapism, a break, a bit of fun. i don't want to open my page and have 'where've you been' thrown at me - it makes me less keen to come on here and it reeks of desperation and desperation is something i've never been keen on.

so, from now on, i'm going to be far more picky over who gets their friend requests accepted. i'm not being sh!tty, just saying 'hey, how's about we see what we have in common first, then maybe become friends'.
i used to think other people were being quite rude, when you'd oppen their pages and see 'don't send me friend requests!', but now i see exactly why they do it!

to those who don't over-step the boundaries, thank you, it's appreciated.
thank you to those of you who send me pages of fluffy, furry creatures, music, puzzles, photography and blogs too. it makes me smile when some-one sends a page that i wish i'd 'discovered' myself and it's nice to know some-one's gone to the effort and also that they thought of me when they saw that page.
i don't like it though, when others try to ram their interests down my throat. if i've never had a passion for some of our unshared interests before, i'm not suddenly going to get one now. no matter how much you may want me to. i'm nearly 32, not 12 - i know what i like and somebody harping on at me to 'like this! infact, thumb it up and review, asap! i know you like it' isn't going to suddenly convince me. infact, being the awkward arse that i am, it's probably more likely that it'll piss me off

so, as that green dude from the tv used to say 'don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when i'm angry'
if it persists, you can guarantee i won't be as polite next time

i have 666 subscribers. 666!
i found that quite amusing cos when i first joined SU, i had a few (judgemental, presumptious, crazy) people tell me that the 'diablo' part of my name was disrespectful to those god-fearing citizens amongst you. good job i hadn't chosen to call myself 'samdiablo666', which is the name i use on other sites - they'd probably assume that i boiled kittens in my spare time. or Something

i'm not some devil-worshipping teen with angst issues. not at all. the diablo part of the name is a joke, from an old nickname, a sarcastically 'ironic' nickname.
just goes to show that you can't assume anything from a name. you can't really assume anything about some-one from their pages, other than the fact i like photography, cos i like taking photos and appreciate the photos (most) other people take. oh and that i likes me some music. and animals. but, other than that, it's just a page of interests, not my complete life story

anyway, i just found it amusing that i'd reached 666. i have images of some new-comer making the same assumptions that were made by those few when i first joined. but, now, i don't care if they pre-judge. pre-judge away! i'm sure the nicer subscribers amongst you know better and that's all that matters :)
we just got back home, me not feeling too well after being sick all over the swimming pool toilets, to find a nice message of some-one offering to show me their cock...and they didn't mean male chicken. i politely declined and asked why i'd want a picture of an American one when i can look at a real life one (my bfs) any time i wanted.
this message was in my flickr inbox today.
Michelle must've looked at my photostream and seen some of the photos of my Grinning Pigs
(that's Guinea pigs to any conventionals out there).
nothing wrong with that and quite a nice request, you'd think. but Michelle can't be too observant,
or she'd've noticed, in the photo tags, that it says 'r.i.p' next to both G pigs
(Kurt Evan Cobain and Trent Neo Reznor, respectively!)

i wasn't ofended, i actually found it quite humorous (yeh, i have got an odd sense of humour)
the devil in me was quite tempted to reply with a
'do you have a spade i can borrow, cos Kurt's been in the back garden for a few years now...'

how did Kurt die? rather strangely, it was in a very similar scenario to his name sake.
to this day, i never did find out where he got the gun from

i don't really 'blog' but, i nearly blummin drowned yesterday!
i did write about it, but stumble swallowed it or something and i was too tired to think about writing it again.
to cut a long (and not particularly interesting) story short, i got lost on a 'country' walk and fell into a stream that was a few feet taller than me (i know this cos i'm over 6'1" and when i touched the bottom, there was a good few feet over my head). after gulping in much muddy water, having a cinematic slow motion underwater moment, retrieving my specs and grabbing a tree branch, of which there were thankfully lots, i sat on the bank for a while, then wandered out of the woods, eventually coming across two fishermen who must've thought i was some kind of swamp monster. they came upto me, gave me a seat, a towel, use of their mobile 'phone and led me back to civilisation.

after over an hour of scrubbing away leaves and mud in the shower, i had lots of hot drinks and relaxing, then blogged about how i was thankfully i can swim; am tall enough to grab random branches and that kind souls still exist...oh and that by tomorrow (today now) i'd probably be my apathetic self again, probably be feeling less appreciative, probably semi-forget how scared sh1tless (pardon my French) i'd been...and be annoyed about the now mud-soaked ruined notes (money), camera, 'phone & other material goods that had been in my bag at the time and were now, of course, ruined

then today one of the fishermen rang to see how i was doing and i was reminded how kind strangers can sometimes be and i was reminded of the other stuff too, so, apathetic me will have to wait cos i'm still feeling thankful & appreciative at the moment. very un-me, i know

anyway, here's a pile of cats, for no other reason than 'just because'
though it's nice to be back stumbling, i see the spammers are still out in full force, which kind of ruins adding 'new' stumblers as you're always wondering 'real or fake?'

i 'defriended' 3 people today 'cos every single day i have 30+ stumbles sent to me.
whilst 3 or 4 of them are off actual su friends who have sent me, mainly, photo stumbles, or at least something i have an interest in, the rest of those 30/40 are 'review my recipe page!' (something i may've done, if hadn't been 'told' to 10+ times!); 'buy this new piece of technology from my site' (which is invariably cheaper somewhere else), but, point being, when did people with business websites stop advertising & start relying on stumblers to do their work (for free!)?

i thought it was ott when i had a message sent last week, where there was a proposition to get some kind of reward for advertising a new stumblers websites - didn't say 'i will pay you', but pretty close, to which i replied with 'pay an advertiser' & got sent the relevant urls & a thank you (sarcasm was obviously beyond their grasp)

anyway, if you want to befriend me, for some odd reason, please, please don't sent multiple demands, it just makes me wary about adding stumblers - and to those 3 who have been, sorry, i've defriended you as i really did feel 10+ each 'demands' a day were taking the pee.

oh, another thing, if you're a 50 year old guy called barry from west glamorgan, don't put up a 'pretty' girl avatar and claim to be angelina, 20, from cali, that's just sick (though i see it's gained you lots of followers for you to send all your tech/'but me!' pages to!)

genuine stumblers, i salute you, fakes can, not to put too fine a point on it, f' off!
cheers, sam
