For those who enjoyed seeing Frank Zappa at 22 on the Steve Allen show, here's an interview Steve did in 1959 with Jack Kerouac. Kerouac reads from "On the Road," while Steve improvises on the piano.

A great series of YouTube clips from a 1962 Steve Allen show, featuring a very young Frank Zappa, 22, performing cacophonous music on bicycles. Just a stunt, yet the glimmer of what Frank would become can be seen here. Steve Allen was pretty good about looking for unusual, on-the-edge stuff--there's a famous clip of him improvising on the piano as Kerouac reads from "On the Road.".

It's time to do a few updates--the world according to George H. W and George W. Bush; the world according to Bill Clinton; the world according to Obama. The changes in iconography and relative land mass proportion would be pretty fascinating, don't you think?
