We just celebrated the smallest Amazon Rainforest deforestation rate of the past three years: 17 thousand square kilometers. This corresponds almost to the half size of the Netherlands.

We have already been able to destroy 16% of the total rainforest area, which corresponds to twice the size of Germany and three areas corresponding to the state of Sao Paulo.

We do not have a reason to celebrate it at all. Amazon is not planet's lung, but renders services to Brazil and to the world.

This green vastness extending over five million square kilometers is a thermal layer generated by nature to prevent the sunrays from reaching the ground, and thus enabling the existence of the most luxuriant forest on earth, which helps to regulate the planet's temperature.

ich wei�, dass b�ume nur tr�ume sind, die man m�glichst bei tageslicht f�llt.
neben kohle verdiene ich keine stromschl�ge mehr, und salat riecht nach parf�m.
oft reicht es zum fliegen und meine eltern hatten immer recht.
sie knipsten fr�h das licht an, um mich kleines b�ndel mensch zu erleben.
und wenn es warm wurde, durfte ich mitschwimmen. so wie im richtigen leben.
der zirkus hielt oft bei uns an. der clown verlie� nie mein zimmer.

Nordlicht ist eine deutschsprachige Rockband aus M�nchen, die es 2007 trotz ihrer deutlichen Texte und musikalischen Individualit�t zu vielz�hligen Radio-Features gebracht hat und u.a. auf Sendern wie Bayern 2, Radio Hamburg, Bayern 3, NDR 2 (Song der Woche: Marie) oder Delta Radio (Band des Monats Dezember 2007) gespielt wurde. Es geschah Unausweichliches: Nordlicht wurde entdeckt, und momentan steckt man mitten in der Produktion sowie dem Feinschliff des Deb�talbums P�bel und Diebe.

Den Kern der Band bilden S�nger Lars Thieleke und Schlagzeuger Sascha Hesky, die bereits zuvor bei den Alternative Rockern Rooftop Riders zusammen aktiv waren und die Nordlicht-Crew um den Gitarristen Gerrit Ho� sowie die Bassistin Alexandra Merl erweitert haben. Lars und Sascha gr�ndeten Nordlicht 2005 vorerst als Projekt, um kauzig-eing�ngigen Songideen und eigent�mlichen Texten ein Ventil zu verschaffen. Der erste Nordlicht-Song �berhaupt ist das vertr�umt treibende Sternenmeer, das voraussichtlich den Abschluss-Track des Albums darstellen wird.

'Sternenmeer' war unsere Geburtsstunde, aber der Rest der Songs ist deutlich mehr auf die 12, berichtete S�nger Lars im vergangenen Oktober in einem einst�ndigen Interview-Feature auf Radio Hamburg und f�gte hinzu: Wir haben schnell festgestellt, dass wir die Leute mit ein paar ungew�hnlichen Hooks und schonungslosen Texten buchst�blich im Gesicht treffen und ihre Herzen zerquetschen k�nnen.

Musikalisch steht bei Nordlicht stets der Song im Vordergrund: Die Band legt das Hauptaugenmerk ihrer Kompositionen auf melodischen Wiedererkennungswert und erweitert das g�ngige Rockinstrumentarium um Mandoline, Orgel, Akkordeon und Ch�re. Die Texte sind gepr�gt von der Mundart und Unverbl�mtheit des S�ngers, w�hrend inhaltlich gleicherma�en emotionale Erfahrungen wie gesellschaftspolitische Missst�nde thematisiert werden.
