George W. Bush's road to the White House: Evangelical Christians showed him the way in 1984. Now, the year is 2007 and many Christians can't stomach the sight of the President. President Bush has turned his back on the people, the faith, and the Christian way.

The catastrophic train wreck of a Presidency that George W. Bush would steer into the heart of America, was put on its tracks in 1984. What was so significant about the year 1984? Aside from George Orwell's famed book that perfectly predicts (albeit prematurely) America's democracy would end at the hands of Fascism, another major event was taking place. In 1984 George W. Bush decided he wanted to `know more about Jesus.'

He was about to turn 37, not long after his personal struggle with Cocaine. I have no evidence on the timing, but the math tells me the magical event happened 23 years ago, which means he was around 36 when he turned to Jesus Christ to be saved. It isn't uncommon for people to turn to religion when they've hit rock bottom. Usually, when this happens, people with their backs against the wall are afraid, they feel helpless and believe they have nowhere else to turn.

If you're familiar with the process, you know for many people, this is a desperate time in their lives. George W. Bush, like most Americans, needed validation and hope. He wanted life to have meaning and needed to hear everything was going to be OK.

Rudy Giuliani and John McCainLook, forget about Rudy Giuliani, are you kidding me? His campaign has more exploitable issues than any presidential candidate I’ve ever seen. The Republican Party is down and it may get worse from here on out if the GOP doesn’t start thinking about the future.

I won’t go into my reasons for believing that Republicans are a lost cause for 2008. As we approach the elections, it is clear Democrats will see little competition from current Republican front-runners. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: If the Republican party wants a shot at upsetting Hillary Clinton and/or Barack Obama, they’ll need to get off the Bush and Iraq bandwagon and start thinking seriously about where America is, what Americans want and how they’ve responded to war, the GOP’s “freedom” message, and President Bush.

Don’t bother spending energy on taking over Congress, it’ll go to the Democrats with a strong majority in 2008. Republicans cannot overcome the negative Bush image now associated with the party. The pundits and partisans will insist that “Americans are not dumb, they know that other Republicans aren’t Bush”, but if you follow that advice it’ll be to your detriment, trust me! There aren’t enough sound bytes and political tactics in the world that could undo the damage Bush and his fervent supporters have done to the party, though, I know Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter will do their parts to give Republican pundits something to talk about.

What the party needs to do is FOCUS, the Presidential Elections are the GOPs only hope at victory in 2008. If you choose to ignore the facts and American sentiment, you’ll be in for a world of hurt over the next 8 and maybe even 16 years! This is serious, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama won’t give up on their dream of becoming President. They will sit in the oval office and if they team up, 16 years of Democrat’s ruling the White House isn’t out of the question.

Democrats will landslide the 2008 elections if the GOP continues to treat Ron Paul as an outcast rather than a serious contender for the nomination.

This afternoon, Sens. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) wrote a letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, calling on him to promptly investigate allegations that the Republican National Committee and its former research director Tim Griffin may have been involved in voter suppression tactics.

In 2004, BBC News published a report showing that Griffin, the former Rove protege who was placed as a U.S. attorney in Arkansas, led a "caging" scheme to suppress the votes of African-American servicemembers in Florida. In response, Griffin said recently, "I didn't cage animals, I'm not a zookeeper." Former RNC researcher Monica Goodling, who dismissively characterized "caging" as a "direct-mail term," acknowledged discussing concerns about Griffin's involvement in caging with Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty in preparation for his testimony before Congress.

In their letter today calling for an investigation of the RNC's voter suppression tactics, Kennedy and Whitehouse underscored the seriousness of "caging" and explained what it entails:

Caging is a voter suppression tactic whereby a political campaign sends mail marked "do not forward" to a targeted group of eligible voters. A more aggressive version involves sending mail to a targeted group of voters with instructions to sign and return an acknowledgment card. The campaign then creates a list of those whose mail was returned undelivered and challenges the right of those citizens to vote -- on the ground that the voter does not live at the registered address.
We're seeing the Internet and "guerrilla media warfare" become an increasingly popular means of employing campaign strategies or supplementing them. Will the Internet become the great equalizer for candidates that don't have the money the Clinton's and Giulliani's have?

Viral Politics, Guerrilla Tactics, Brilliant Strategy?

Presidential ad campaigns will see increasing campaign resources devoted to neutralizing or embracing the Internet as a form of political influence. Those that aren't with it will throw terms around like `guerilla' to denote a less admirable form of marketing images. But who defines what is and is not admirable? Think about millions of people in the world that now have a means of communicating in an effective manner by blogging, forums, online chat, e-mail, web sites and more. click the title above to read more...
