Do You Still Need To Optimize Your Blog For The Search Engines?

In the past the experts have told us to:

Audit your website

Do keyword research

Update your content

Obtain new relevant links

Keep updated social network profiles

(source: btobonline.com)

Doing this will drive traffic to our websites and blogs as well as increase page rank, and get you to the top of Google. But, bloggers seem to have found another method that is just as effective if not better. Social Media Marketing. Wall Street is still stumbling and fumbling behind the blogosphere trying to figure out how to get a handle on the most innovative marketing technique of the last 12 months.

Not a day goes by that some marketing magazine or even USA Today reports on this phenomenom. But Wall Street is behind the 8 Ball, not driving it. They are paying huge sums just to get invited to the party. Major corporations like Coca-Cola, and more are buying up advertising like wildfire on Facebook, Myspace and every other social network they can find. They want to put their products in front of the audience that will see it.

Other organizations like the American Business Media are sponsoring Netmarketing Seminars, aimed at teaching corporate employees how to "get the best results out of your interactive campaigns."

These major businesses are scrambling to find out what makes social networking tick. They want a piece of the pie and they want it bad.

Take a look at Entrecard, if you go into the forums you'll find dedicated, intelligent bloggers who are fiercely protective over their promotional ideas. They'll fight you tooth and nail over an idea, similar to a battle in corporate America. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it's a jungle out here.

Blogs are leading the search engines by the nose. The blogosphere is an intertwined family that supports others in the time of personal tragedy. Contest sprout up like weeds, there's almost one on every corner. But readers love them, and they are effective. I wonder if the explosive popularity and sheer user driven experience will cause a shift in the whole search engine game. It makes me wonder if Google will still be the powerhouse they are in 2-3 years from now. Probably not.

My belief is user driven content will determine popularity, Google, et al, may be in danger of losing 'market share' to Facebook or even Twitter. Relevant links will be the new currency, and page rank will become an obsolete term and achievement.

Continue to write for the reader, don't lose site of that. But, understand the game is changing. Will you be ready?

HELP ME WIN THIS CONTEST

As a member of Quiet Hits Traffic Surf Exchange they often have contests. Normally, I don't compete, but this time, I think I have enough friends to win it.

The person with the most referrals wins $250. I want to win it and put the money towards my sons' headstone.

My son has been dead for almost 3 years, and the headstone costs a little over $1000. His funeral really set me back because I paid for it with donations from friends and family. You see, the insurance companies won't issue life insurance policies to chronically ill persons, so I spent $8500 and some change to give my son a proper send off. He was 23 when he passed and I still miss him.

If you sign up as one of my referrals, you don't even have to participate with Quiet Hits, I just want to win the contest. The balance I owe on his headstone is $969.90.

Here is the link: http://QuietHits.com/?ref=5720

Thanks in advance.

Do You Believe The Gurus?

If you are anything like me, you have researched the internet trying to find out what works. Trying to emulate those who seem to be successful and are making money.

Unfortunately, when I have reached the mountaintop, the things I learned may not have worked for me. That's because those same gurus lied to me. They may have left out one critical piece of information. Something that was necessary to make money online.

Finally, I have stumbled upon two programs that are in pre-launch.

One is pay per play where audio ads are played on your site or blog each time someone visits. And each time they visit, you get paid. It's simple as that. The good thing is there are not many people signed up yet, and I am only signing up my friends. People I know that also want to make money. I have found these friends in BlogCatalog, StumbleUpon and Technorati. But, today I'd like to give you that same chance, here is your opportunity to get in on the ground floor and make money before the funnel fills up. It's free now, but it won't be for long, here is the link

http://www.sellingppp.com/a.cgi?ppp=1201792866

Pay Per Play has already hooked up with the Big 5 Search Engines, so it is prepared to take the industry by storm. Here's your gift from me.

I'd like to give you a free 54 page report: "Search Engine Myths Exposed."

This report will give you those step by step tools that will take your online business to the next level. Nothing is left out, you only get the advice that will take you to the bank and more.

Here is the link for the free report:

http://searchenginemythsexposed.com/?action=ref&id=5956

And you can thank me later. If you have a blog, blog about it, the more people you tell, the more you will make. It's that simple. Use social bookmarking groups and forums to tell all your readers and friends.

You won't be sorry.

I Am A Barack Obama Believer

In the beginning I made fun of Barack Obama's relationship with Oprah Winfrey. Calling it the Oprah Effect and the Oprah Factor. But, after hearing his victory speech the other night in Iowa, I have since changed my mind.

Here's why:

Obama has a sincerity to him that is both refreshing and it makes me listen. I don't normally listen to politicians, I have my reasons. I believe most politicians are narcissistic opportunists and there isn't a truthful one among the bunch. But, maybe Obama is just as tired and fed up with the current presidency as the rest of us are.

Maybe he really does envision a world where change can happen and happen for the better.

I would like to think that in my lifetime it is possible for the races to get along and not dislike each other based upon fear or not knowing. Or that homosexuality will not be looked upon as a queer lifestyle, but that they are people, people who have feelings, who work, pay taxes just like anyone else.

I want to believe in the impossible I know. But, I'm willing to try.

Obama Wins Iowa, Another Victory For The Oprah Effect

The media have named the phenomenal impact Oprah Winfrey seems to have on shaping popular culture "The Oprah Effect." And now that Barack Obama has won the Iowa caucus, I'm smiling and questioning the situation all in one.

Smiling because it's a wonderful thing to watch the battle that is sure to be, the 2008 Democratic race. Besides being a historical event, it is also turning into a message race. A message being heard loud and clear from voters; voters who have been ignored by the present administration.

I was surprised though at John Edwards slugging it out for second place with Hilary Clinton. She ended up in 3rd place. I'm sure they'll be some restructuring of resources in that camp. Hillary is probably blowin' a gasket right about now.

It leads me to question is America ready to try a Black President in lieu of a woman? Is it the fact that she's a woman? Or is it the fact that Hilary is perceived by some as being deceptive and indecisive. I guess changing her mind on the vote to go to war after the carnage had begun was too late for the folks in Iowa. (That's another blog.)

I'm sure John Edwards' camp is happy about their victory.

But Oprah and Barack...hmmm.

This thing called the Oprah Effect may not be an urban legend after all. Her ability to assist in molding popular culture in this country has gone beyond Dr. Phil and Broadway Stage plays. Surely Oprah's appearance at Barack's side while he was campaigning in Iowa didn't hurt.

I don't think Oprah Winfrey is involved in this political race just for the acceptance of others. I believe she feels empowered to make a change. Her involvement in the 2008 presidential race has naturally grabbed the attention of >international media.

There may be a little narcissistic gratification in it for her, but it's minimal at best.

Yeah, if only I could be a fly on the wall in the Clinton camp.

300 Pound Hooker Puts Her Smack Down On Man!

A blue jean, white t-shirt wearing 300-pound prostitute robbed a man and then took his bike! The hooker came up to the 32-year old man as he rode his bike about 1:00am. She propositioned him, but he didn't want any. Feeling sorry for the woman, he reached into his wallet and gave her $10. Big mistake. That's when the overweight would-be lover pushed the man off his bike and put her smack down on him. She took his wallet, which held $100 and rode off. Police are still looking for the woman in the Fort Pierce, Florida area.

It seems that Yahoo is directly responsible for the imprisonment of a Chinese Journalist, Shi Tao. Shi was considered a dissident by the Chinese authorities and sat behind bars after the internet giant disclosed Shi's online activities to the Chinese government.

Yahoo has since said they didn't know the facts of the case when it surrendered the information. However, the House Foreign Affairs Committee says not so. It seems that Yahoo employees did know about the case.

Yahoo has apologized for its lack of ethics and concern for human rights.

Donnie McClurkin: Is There Really A Scandal?

After going over a few blogs, I've decided I don't have an opinion about the Donnie McClurkin-Barack Obama 'scandal.' And I use the word 'scandal' tenuously because it really isn't one.

Let me bring you up to speed. This weekend Gospel Superstars Donnie McClurkin, Mary Mary and a host of others performed in South Carolina at the Barack Obama Gospel Concert seriesBarack Obama.

However, on October 23rd reports both online and offline (I read a blurb in the Detroit Free Press from the Associated Press (AP) wire) that McClurkin had made disparaging comments against homosexuals. That these comments amounted to a form of hatred. (Thus here comes the court of popular opinion.) One blogger has even done a taped interview with a former homosexual lover of McClurkin's.

Oh, in case you didn't know, McClurkin has admitted to being raped by a family member as a child and thus lived his life for 20 years as a homosexual male. He says he is no longer homosexual and believes that homosexuality is a choice.

Ok, this is where it gets heated.

Maybe Donnie needs to watch who he hangs with. Because a man known as "Rob" has given an exclusive interview detailing explicitly a three year sexual relationship with him. This former lover is not hinting at a relationship at all, he describes McClurkin's genitalia in detail, the way Michael Jackson's was described in court.

Where do I stand on this and why do I even care? Well, personally I don't care and many other bloggers don't care either. If McClurkin is gay or not it doesn't matter to me one iota. Unless he's trying to look serious in his publicity shots, he always looks sad to me. I think there are lots of other problems to deal with in America right now. But, hey sensationalism and celebrity sells papers, gets TV ratings and generates hits to blogs and websites.

Donnie I am apologizing right now for pimping your personal life for Diggs and Drops right now. Now, the funny thing is Barack Obama didn't even show up for the concert this weekend I was told. No doubt due to the slew of questions he was sure to face about McClurkin.

McClurkin has always been quoted as wanting a big church and a successful music career. He has all that now. But, I wonder if he ever imagined his dreams would cause him so much discomfort. Oh well, the life of a celebrity.
