Cloned Animals Set to Be Sold As Meat in US
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave the go-ahead yesterday to allow the sale of cloned cattle, pigs, and goats with no obligation to state the origin of the meat on labels. Hey, if they're so sure it's safe for humans to eat (which I have a hunch hasn't been sufficiently determined yet), then they ought to at least let consumers know when cloned meat is being purchased and eaten. (Double yuck, I would guess, for the vegetarians out there!)

Hmmm, this maneuver reminds me of how the U.S. government has been aggressively pushing genetically modified foods (GMO's)--not only on its own citizens, but on the rest of the world, too--whether we like it or not. Oh well, this may be a moot issue anyway, since it's likely that "The genie is already out of the bottle," and genetically modified crops have already spread so rapidly that it has become nearly impossible for consumers to avoid them!
