(revised to include recent events)

Its been a long time since I've posted anything, but so much has happened in the last 5 months... As I enjoy making lists, I'll just do this in list form. In no particular order:

1. I've came back home to Cali from Seattle.
2. I ended up living with a highly reputable man who molested and threatened me. He's still harassing me, 3 months later.
3. I was homeless for two whole hours (in direct response to #2)
4. I made a man fall off the wagon after his failed marriage proposal (it had been literally 1 wk of dating!) - it wasn't pretty.
5. I rescued the same man from attempted suicide.
6. I learned how to shoot pool so well that I've now beat the second best player in Marin - twice!
7. My alcohol tolerance has gone from one beer to three. (this is not a good thing)
8. I was underweight for several months and am now rockin some seriously sexy curves.
9. I've moved four times since July.
10. I successfully mediated a near bar brawl (while drunk!) to where the people ended up hugging.
11. A friend OD'd. It affected me greatly.
12. I got a high-paying job in a shit economy.
12b. My boss is such an asshole that he's made me cry multiple times out of sheer frustration.
12c. My hours from said job get cut to nothing.
12d. I am so happy and relieved about it, we celebrate.
12e. I finally get laid off - thank god!
13. I've learned what "blackout drunk" means. Those friends are no longer friends.
14. I'm getting to know my family again after 9 years.
15. A year after hospitalization, I am still pretty healthy.

And saving the very best for last:

16. I met the man of my dreams. Seriously. True love.
16b. Clint and I sealed the deal with a promise, a ring and a kiss on March 1st.
17. We're now 8 weeks pregnant with our first child - due 12/14! - equally nervous and excited.

I'm having a shit week. Actually, its been a shit past few weeks. I've never been under more stress or pressure that I can remember. I keep thinking I'm finally making good choices for my life moving forward, and then something happens and I realize I've done something really dumb. I just don't understand how it is that people get pubes all over the urinals. I know that when I unzip my fly, my pubes don't go bursting out in a big curly black cloud and flutter down all over the nice white porcelain. I mean seriously, are these people like pulling them out? Do they not get enough fiber in their diet and it's falling out? Someone, anyone, PLEASE explain it to me...

Its no secret that I am completely homesick for SF. I have such great memories of the 4th of July growing up. It was all about family, friends, time spent in the pool, BBQ'ing and either heading off to Moffett Field (huge local airfield base where my grandfather was stationed) for the big air show, or going to a baseball game and then watching fireworks while Journey belts out Lights (aka city by the bay). I really miss those days, but I especially miss the sense of belonging I get when I'm surrounded by my huge family and old friends for these type of gatherings. I've definitely come to appreciate the comfortable chaos that swallows me when were all together.

As I get older, I feel more and more alone up here in the Pacific NW. I never really acclimated to the weather (which really seems to piss people off when you mention it), and how different the overall attitude is. I'm just not into REI as a fashion statement - no offense. So, I'm going to make this vow. Right here. Right now. I will not spend another year here in Washington. By the 4th next year, I'll be back home. You guys are all witness. Please hold me accountable.

That said, to those of us here in the US, I wish you a fantastic 4th of July. Be safe, and have a burger and a dog for me!
