The point of this is to point out hypocrisy and highlight the categorically false assumption that government regulation or interference has never brought about anything good. The movers and shakers in the "free" market will fuck over the little guy with no qualms whatsoever; this is why it has been so often necessary for the government to step in and provide the benefits cited in this piece.
