From the page: "In March 2006 I contacted Bell to resolve the fact that I could not use my cell phone due to terrible reception and a faulty phone. I was told my only options were to 1) renew my contract for another three years, get new phones, AND pay a higher monthly rate OR 2) cancel the contract at $400 per phone ($800 in total). While talking to a manager I was rudely asked "What does it matter that you are having issues with your phone? You are not even using your phone." Pardon me? I explained, as politely as I could muster, that I was not using the phone because THE PHONE WAS BROKEN."

From the page: "Airset lets me schedule events with alarms on my palm calendar, hotsync and get sms text reminders when the alarms go off. I get an online calendar that leaves me saying Google who? This even syncs my calendar & contacts straight from my Palm - straight from the Palm (sans desktop but desktop is an option)! It imports ical, csv and syncs Outlook & Palm Desktop. All this for free."

From the page: "Nagios is the new name for NetSaint, a network/service monitoring tool. It was designed for Linux, but can be compiled and run perfectly well under any UNIX variant as far as I am aware. The monitoring daemon runs intermittent checks on hosts and services you specify. These check are performed by using external commands, "plugins", which return status information to Nagios. When problems are encountered, Nagios can send notifications out to administrative contacts in a variety of different ways (email, instant message, SMS, etc.). Current status information, historical logs, and reports can all be accessed via a web browser. "

From the page: "Years ago when I was living in Japan I bought a high-tech rice cooker with a 14 hour timer and settings for white and brown rice. Occassionally I would make much too much rice, especially brown rice. Not wanting to eat it plain, I invented this curry rice salad as tasty way to stretch out my rice leftovers. Over the years the recipe has expanded beyond curry, cilantro, apples, and raisins to include many other ingredients, again usually whatever might work that's in the fridge. This curry salad is ideal to cook ahead as the flavors blend better after the salad has sat in the refrigerator overnight. And it is easy to cook in large quantities for summer potlucks and barbeques."
