hmm. random thoughts. I never thought I could have enough friends until SU decided that more than 100 was too much.

Anyways, We had layoffs at my work yesterday. My department is a third of the size now. Its extremely difficult to see people all around you packing up their belongings into a box and leaving. People you've worked with every day and made friendships with. Sigh. But todays a new day and I can only move forward from here. back to work I guess.

Barry Bonds sucks. You heard me!

Apparently Barry Bonds did not want to take part in the home run derby because he wanted a day off. The guy gets paid millions and he can't give a single day to the fans. The kicker, he decided to do it after requesting money to take part. What happened to his day of rest? Why does he need to be paid to do something that is supposed to be in interest of the fans? He's a jerk and doesn't deserve fans!

To elaborate on my Iraq views a bit (see below), I don't mean to imply that I want innocent Iraqi's to die. I believe, however, that there are many extremist people in Iraq that get power by playing on people's emotions against a common enemy (think al-Sadr, Hitler used the same tactics to gain power). Even if the coalition left Iraq completely, these people would find some other avenue to channel their hatred towards and find a new common enemy and/or take the fight outside their borders.

Take Israel, they can give and give and give to the Palestinians but the terrorist organizations can't stop their attacks on Israel or they will lose their following, funding and power. To put it this way, Israel could give Palestine all of the land and sovereign they want and the terrorist groups would still be sending suicide bombers to Israel. Over the years its been shown that you cannot 'appease' a terrorist group and think they will stop doing acts of terrorism. They exist to terrorize, whether a true enemy exists or not.
