Amateurs...built the ark.
Professionals...built the Titanic.

And Finally, can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics:

* 29 have been accused of spousal abuse
* 7 have been arrested for fraud
* 19 have been accused of writing bad checks
* 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
* 3 have done time for assault
* 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
* 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
* 8 have been arrested for shoplifting
* 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
* 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year...

Can you guess which organization this is? Go on, take a few secs if you need it...

*****

It's the 535 members of the United States Congress. The same group that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line.

BS Report

29-4-2008 - Is the DEA's Reefer Madness About to End? [Well, It happened. Finally...;-]]

I got high reading about a bill, "H.R. 5843, The Act to Remove Federal Penalties for the Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults". It states the bill would get rid of most Federal penalties for personal possession. I clicked "read more". It was introduced by Democrat Congressman Barney Frank from Massachusetts and get this, co-sponsored by Ron Paul.

Just last night I was going on again that 'bam and Hill should come out for legalization. Don't they read the news? Don't they know there's a marijuana revolution going on? Obama admits he smoked and I'd bet my bra Hill has inhaled, unlike Bill.

There are people who would take umbrage, those drug warriors and out there, but if they both talked about it, debates would begin and truth would win out. On the site, WashingtonWatch It has detailed summary, status of the legislation, points in favor and against. Give the "favor" a read:

- States Rights: Allows states to decide if and how they wish to prosecute possessors of small quantities of Marijuana. By eliminating federal penalties for such possession, the Commerce Clause will no longer pre-empt state law with respect to low-level possession.

- Cost: Would reduce cost of federal law enforcement efforts that are disproportionate to the alleged cost of self-harm. Law enforcement resources should be used to prevent harm-to-others, not self-harm.

- Law Enforcement: Allows law enforcement to more thoroughly address activities that cause harm-to-others by relieving officers, agents, prosecutors, and judges of legal duty to enforce a law which has been enacted to prevent harm-to-self.

- Personal Liberties: Live and let live. The bill would allow states to determine whether people should be able to use marijuana in the privacy of their home. So long as the users aren't harming anyone, it is extremely offensive to brand them as criminals and force them to live in fear.

I left-arm "right arm" the old hippie way because my right is aching. This is the way it should have always been. There are just too many people in need and plain old want for marijuana. I'd kill for a joint right now so the feel of hundreds of needles would go away in my right thigh. My arm wouldn't ache.

The DEA wouldn't have done what they did to the Marijuana dispenser and shop in Los Angeles. Shocking. HollywoodRiot has an article by someone who witnessed the DEA's raid:

Guess who came calling? The DEA. The dispensary's manager, who was walking around outside when I strolled by, told me that a group of federal thugs agents smashed not only the ten-foot window you see above, but also over twenty glass display cases inside.

It was so over the top and violent, the author had to write an update saying it was absolutely the DEA. What's trippin' my daisies is that I'd just watched a documentary called "Super High Me" featuring comedian Doug Benson where he quit smoking pot for 30 days and then smoked 30 straight. If anything is proof that there's no withdrawal and that the only thing that's different when he smokes is he's happy. He was definitely funnier. His cognitive functions increased as did his sperm count. Damn, that should be incentive enough for all those guys with a low count.

Every kid I know whose mom smoked pot while pregnant are brilliant and have it together. This could mean black market sperm, being hawked as "Want to get her pregnant? Get high". See, I told you this subject makes me high. I reel in and get real serious.

This bill must pass. I don't know if there's a petition going around for it, but there sure are a lot of people commenting. It's ridiculous that a state, California, can have a law lega

Why Not Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol?

* Marijuana is far safer than alcohol because it does not stimulate aggressiveness and is not nearly as addictive. 1
* To save $7.7 billion in enforcement costs. 2
* To produce $6.2 billion in tax revenue (which could be used to pay for education, treatment and prevention for all drugs.) 2
* To deprive cartels and gangs of a major source of revenue. 3
* To significantly enhance the effectiveness of our police and courts. (Current annual marijuana arrests exceed 700,000 per year.) 4
* To separate marijuana from far more dangerous illegal drugs, ending the "gateway" to drug dealers we now have. 5
* To reduce hypocrisy and make drug education more credible and effective. 6
* To end prisons doing far more damage to users than the drug itself. 7
* To end the breaking of the law by otherwise law abiding citizens, especially the more than 900,000 children under 18 years old who buy and resell marijuana. 8
* To remove major barriers to research for medical use. 9
* To reduce violence in general and safeguard law enforcers. 10
