The Namibian is the country's pre-eminent daily national newspaper with a proud history of standing up for human rights, freedom and democracy before and after the country's Independence in 1990. The newspaper's staff and editor worked under difficult conditions during the occupation of Namibia by the South African regime. It remains a strong voice for the poor and underprivileged in society. Lately, the newspaper has been a thorn in the side of the SWAPO Government of the country with its objective and - at times - very critical reporting about corruption in Government circles and a lack of accountability on the part of Ministers and the ruling party. The Government has imposed an advertising ban on the publication, ostensibly because of its "unbalanced and unfair" reporting, but more probably because of political reasons. The paper's strapline is "Still Telling It Like It Is".

One of my favourite vbulletin sites, with very good, working modifications and a real community spirit that is contributing to vbulletin's success as an online community platform. Definite thumbs-up! I've tried a number of systems over the years and in my experience is the best. Recently-added features such as Social Groups and Private/Public Profile pages with Photo Albums and a MEssaging System strengthens the sotwware as a platform for online communities.

Topical and interesting discussion about the emergence of a new political party called Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) in the Republic of Namibia to challenge the dominance of the ruling SWAPO Party of Namibia. The RDP's senior leadership is composed of former SWAPO Party cabinet ministers and allies of former president Sam Nujoma, and is receiving support in the heartland of SWAPO causing upheaval in Namibia's political landscape.
