Lost Valley has recently completed 17 years of experimentation and growth! We average around 25 adult and child members, ages 3 to 65 (plus interns and others), living and working together on our 87 beautiful acres of gardens, meadows, forests, pond, and creek. We are located 18 miles southeast of Eugene, Oregon, 20 minutes off of I-5 via Route 58.
We run a nonprofit retreat and conference facility with 120 beds plus camping, and also organize our own workshops in areas such as Ecovillage and Permaculture Design and Heart of Now (personal growth). For the past eight years we have published a journal called Talking Leaves.
We are creating a Nature Center and are in the process of developing an on-site children's education program called DELVE.
We offer longer-term learning experiences through our intern program. People wishing to apply for community membership begin by participating in a Community Experience Week.
We live simply and well surrounded by the magic of our land.

COMMUNITY LAND OWNERSHIP AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING
A Wales â€" wide networking meeting will be held in the Circular Studio, at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre
On Wednesday the 7th of March 2007.

Click for details
We believe that for communities to become more sustainable, people living and working in them need to access to land, buildings and finance. They also need to be able to make decisions for themselves about how those resources are used and developed for the long-term benefit of their community. This can be done through setting up a community land trust.
A community land trust is a community controlled organisation that owns, develops and manages land and buildings for the benefit of the local community. By separating the value of land from the buildings that stand upon it, the trust captures the value of any public and private investment, as well as planning gain and land appreciation.
We are a not-for-profit company with charitable objects, governed by people from a wide range of organisations working in mutual home ownership, banking, business, community development, construction and estate management. We have good links with local government, regeneration partnerships, building societies, housing associations and charitable trusts. Click here for a list of our partners and funders."
