I've been without internet access and it's been a nightmare! Hopefully it is all sorted out and I can get back to my regular stumbling business.

I came across a page today which quoted someone eles' page about having restricted access. The person seemed to think that if someone came to their page and did not want to be contacted they would take this as an insult. I differ. Many people prefer to use SU as a stumbling device, and not for community purposes. SU even gives you the option, which I approve of. There are many times I'd simply like to click through pages and not chat. Some people come to an SUer's page through stumbles, others by clicking on their profile in a review. I don't think they should be publically shamed as it were for not wanting to chat. I've heard of lists about non Christians, lists about liberals and now lists about people who prefer not to correspond. What's next... lists of people who don't respond to PMs? I'd be high up on that list. Not because I'm rude, but just because I'm busy (or the PM is spam). *shrugs* To each their own...

I'm cleaning out some of my mutual friends list. After losing some spots to people who left I decided to keep those who are currently active and post on a semi regular basis. Please don't take this personal if you happen to be one of the people who I removed. I think the friends' list should be renamed considering it represents sites I want to see and not people I want to be friends with and enjoy chatting with. Hopefully SU will fix this flaw and either allow another list for people you want to converse with or allow more than two hundred mutual friends maximum. All that typing and only two sips of coffee. HAH!

Last week I got tired of the annoying unwanted advances/spam from random SUers (OMG U R so cute. Wanna cyber) and changed my SU photo to a recent daytrip featuring me AND my boyfriend. The result? Less traffic and no spam. It's a win win situation! *smiles* I'm off to be a tourist in Universal Studios. Have a great day!

SU staff contacted me to check if I was improperly linking photos from a an artist's site after the artist complained. While I was not (thank goodness!) I thought this was a good opportunity to mention website etiquette.

While SU offers a great 'blog this photo' option it isn't the best to use outside of Stumbler's avatars. When you post a photo directly from someone's website it is considered 'hotlinking'. Basically every time the photo is loaded onto someone's page it uses bandwidth that the website owner has to pay for. That can get very expensive. I suggest using a free photo storage site that allows hotlinking. I use both Photobucket and ImageShack. Another concern of the artist was that people were posting photos without giving any credit to the artist. If you are going to post someone's photo, please give credit to the artist/website that you got it from.
