*Note: I saw "300" at a local IMAX recently. I haven't been to the movies since the last Star Wars came out. I was delighted to see a 90% EMPTY theatre. I had a wicked cute date and popcorn. All set. A happier Andi you'd be hard pressed to find. The previews begin and I settle into movie-goer reverie, when BLAM! Here they come. Mama, an assortment of underage children, and Daddy bringing up the rear with a BABY. A BABY. I worked in Neonatal ICU forever, so I feel qualified to assert that it was indeed, a BABY.

I was in hell.

I felt sorry for said BABY for about one minute. "300" was WAY too LOUD for a BABY. I worried that the poor kid would turn out deaf. But then I knew that the kid had WAY bigger problems than a little tinnitus. His parents brought him to an R-rated LOUD movie before he could sit up on his own. Like I said: WAY bigger problems.

I think I've posted this cam before, but it really is a remarkable site. There are 3 baby eaglets still on the nest at Norfolk Botanical Gardens. They are projected to leave around Memorial Day, so drop in soon. I haven't, since last week, and the little buggers are already beginning to show the white caps that are customary in Balds.

Amazing.

Earlier this week, someone jumped out of a vehicle as Sean Kennedy was making his way to his car, punching him in th head. He died of his injuries 17hrs later. I retrieved his pic from his myspace page, where I left my condolences.
He was 20, gay, and well loved by many friends and family. I am just SICK that some redneck was so threatened that he had to do this. They said on the news tonight that the sheriff's office was investigating to see IF it was a hate crime.

Oh please.

I hope whoever hit Sean is sweating bullets tonight, and I hope Greenville won't let this one go.

I am just sick over this. The South is a beautiful and terrible place. Sometimes I think that if I ever had a good reason, I'd leave--over crap like this.
