Here is a point of view rarely heard in Western Media... but what about the "Africans" then and now who contribute(d) to the problems?

From the page: "Who is complaining about Africa's romance with the Chinese? Who was it in the 1960s who invented the word realpolitik? China is projected to be the next superpower, with an economy projected to overtake Germany's this year, overtake Japan's in a few years' time and overtake the US' Goliath economy anytime between 2035 and 2040. We Africans want to grab the short Chinese coat-tails and ride on it into what is expected to be the Chinese Century.

All those people who are saying that the Chinese are a dangerous partner to Africa, what did they themselves do when they lorded it over this continent in the last 1,000 years? Beginning with the Romans; when Alexander the Great came charging into Egypt, all the books that the Greeks and Romans later wrote, allegedly plagiarised from looted Egyptian libraries, did they pay for the copyright?

All the Arabs who brought mirrors and kaftans to African chiefs and marched away across the Sahara with long columns of slaves, were they better than the Chinese? The Portuguese too should shut their mouths in this matter. Since they came to the African coast 600 years ago and began carting away our palm oil and then their ace sailors piloted the ships in which 10 million West Africans were shipped away to slavery in the Americas, which human rights did they respect?"

From the page: "I am a teacher, and while I must agree that Abcde is very um… unique, Iâ€ve seen so many crazy names that nothing surprises me any more. The twins lemonjello and orangejello (la-mon-jalo and or-an-jalo) Shithead (sha-theed) and my personal favorite La-Shia… Her teacher kept saying her name wrong, and the girl would not correct her (kindergarten) so the mom called and told the teacher that the dash (that would be the hyphen) was not silent and her name was pronounced (la-dash-ia). I didnâ€t even know that symbols could make a phonetic sound… I was wrong! Oh and we have the girls named after cars: Porche, Mercedes, Lexus, and Infiniti. I would be so mad if I was Infiniti."

This is a wonderful interview with Oscar Brown, Jr. If you do not know this amazing artist, please do check out some of his music. My father introduced me to his work when I was a child and I love it ever since... It amazes me what some Africans were doing in the 40's and 50's US.
