From the page: "I thought I'd post some photos of the pieces going up on Wednesday. Just a few this time, but each is one of a kind. And not in the well-they're-each-handmade-so-they're-all-bound-to-be-a-little-different (sweet maude, I hate hyphens) way.

The pieces in this little mini collection are each inherently one of a kind - made from silverware, cicada wings, cut freehand from metal, no patterns. This is always a struggle for me - I usually become so attached, so in love with the pieces I create that I want to save them, have them cast, be able to make them over and over and over. The businessperson in me thinks of things like, 'What if I make one and it's insanely popular and everyone wants one and I don't have anymore? Is that smart?', and the starving artist in me thinks about how nice it would be if that happened.

In the end, my idea instinct to keep each of these silverware pieces one of a kind, and, to be honest, my excitedness about offering them up to you for sale won out, and, if I ever find another of these spoons again, I'll consider it lucky, and I'll quickly make another, perhaps similar, perhaps not. But, for now, this necklace is the only one, and I'm so pleased with how it turned out.

It was nice to have found these pieces without intention, just coming across them in the thrift, and, magpie-like, adding them to my collection of tiny, shiny things. I sawed and sanded and arranged and soldered, took apart and repeated. I asked for feedback, I went with my first instincts. And here it is. The Good Egg. I can't wait to show you what's on the inside of the bowl of the spoon. It's my favorite part, and it ties the whole piece, the feel of it, the look of it, everything, together. I can't wait to see who ends up taking this home. I can't wait to package it up and write the thank you note and send it off to someone who loves it as much as I loved making it. And I can't wait to make more pieces from silverware, beautiful things in their own right that seem somehow elevated when paired with stones or bits of chain, showcased, celebrated.

Posts about the other two pieces in this mini-update will be up shortly, stay tuned!

See you Wednesday! /artsyfeelyramblings"

From the page: "I love finding things that I find beautiful in their own right, and then realizing I can make them into something I might love even more. These tines once belonged to this fork, which was found in my favorite thrift. The fork was constructed from brass, then plated with sterling silver. Due to age and wear, the tips of the tines and bits of the back have worn through to the brass, and the silver tarnished to a bluish grey. I noticed the contrast immediately while sorting through the bin, and loved it - and I knew that brass is much easier to drill through than steel, which is what most silverware is made from. So, I took it home. I sawed, and sanded, and drilled, and oxidized, and burnished and finally came out the other end with these earrings - perfectly imperfect and one of a kind. You can find them in my Etsy shop on Wednesday!"

FAQ about this listing:

From the page: "Want to add an additional pendant to your Tiny Gem Necklace? This listing is for ONE pendant without the chain, that you can add to your Tiny Gem Necklace.
Each pendant is handcrafted one by one, without a pattern, so every single pendant is unique!
Just choose which number, symbol, or letter you'd (these pendants are tiny! just 1-2 letters/symbols/numbers per pendant, please!)like on your pendant, and please send any additional instructions on finish preferences (OXIDIZED or BRIGHT) and placement of pendants (i.e., would you like all purchased pendants put onto one jumpring, or strung separately onto the necklace) in the note to seller portion of your transaction page.
It's that way all over the city, and when I was running the other day, early, I reminded myself that I needed to take pictures before it was too late - of the varying degrees of leaf-blanketed-ness in yards across town, of the eggplant-y purple leaves against the still green grass, of the piles and piles hugging the sidewalks. Add in the near-idyllic light that pours through the trees at that time of morning, and you couldn't take a bad photograph if you tried. "
