Hi there folks,

I've had a busy few weeks - leaving cambridge for ireland, then back to england, and I finally landed in Chengdu last week. I don't underestimate when I say that my mood at being back here has been bordering on the ecstatic. The food, the people, the ease of life and freedom...

I still have to get broadband installed at home though, so won't be stumbling for a while. I'll still check any messages from time to time.

Had a problem with my visa trying to leave Chengdu, so am here for another few days while my wife is already back in London! Mad situation, but it's actually wonderful to have these extra few days of leisure, as the days before we were due to leave were so taken up with packing. The plan for today is to go shopping - pick up a folding bike to take back, and some cheap antiques for friends - get a massage, and go for Turkish food tonight with a bunch of friends. Most of all, I'm just enjoying walking around and savouring the sights and smells of China before leaving.

Hi everyone,

You'll have to bear with me for a day or two until we get a new computer. I've been trying to download the toolbar in an internet cafe I'm using, but no joy. I just had a half-hour google translator session with the staff in the cafe, but they still can't seem to figure it out, and SU doesn't have a Chinese toolbar, so what to do...Hope I'm being missed ;-)
