A translation of an Urdu 'ghazal' by a 19th century Delhi (India) poet Mirza Ghalib which achingly captures the cruelty of love and hope. As is the style of the ghazal (poems which are popular as songs), the poet often refers to himself in the third person as 'Ghalib'.
It's English translation but merely succeeds in hinting at the pain and beauty in the Urdu version of the ghazal.
