I've been following the "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007" (HR 1955) news stories since this bill was first brought to my attention on Thursday. This legislation has been informally dubbed the "Thought Crimes Prevention Act." And with good reason, too. HR 1955 has already PASSED in the U.S. House of Representatives. George Orwell's dark literary vision was off by 23 years.

On Friday a friend in one of my networks wrote a chilling synopsis of the potential personal impact if this bill does get signed into law. John of AllFaith's article can be read here.

Overnight (10/29/2007) an action alert was issued by political whistleblower, Devvy Kidd. Her article contains a wealth of information and links from numerous sources. "Why HR 1955 was rammed through under cover of fire" can be read here. If signed into law, what HR 1955 will do to our waning Constitutional freedoms is the legislative equivalent of hurricane Katrina.
