A fellow stumblers asked me the question, as to how could the cause of socialism be forwarded in the US. And this was my answer to it. I am open to comments and criticism.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well i guess I'm too young and inexperienced to answer that question. But being a dialectical materialist, according to me, the transition from capitalism to socialism is a qualitative change which would happen only when the contradictions between the large masses and the bourgeoisie become so acute that the transition becomes imperative. I have been thinking in the same direction, with respect to India as to how to forward the cause of socialism here. And I'm not sure whether I think correctly, but I shall still put forward my hypothesis.

India got its independence from the Britishers in 1947. At that point of time, the Indian Economy was in tatters, especially after the bloody separation with Pakistan. And thereafter Jawaharlal Nehru, the Prime Minister of India, who was a pseudo-socialist pseudo-capitalist, started the Five Years Plans like Stalin did. And over 30 years from 1950 to 1980, the privatization wasn't as rampant. And this allowed the Indian economy to grow as a whole. After that period there was rapid privatization in all the fields which lead to impoverishment of a lot of people. However because of the initial development of the economy, there's a huge flourishing middle class in India. So the poverty statistics isn't as high as that in lets say Venezuela before Hugo Chavez came in to power. And hence the discontent or the contradiction with the bourgeoisie isn't as high in India as it was in Venezuela. And hence i think there's still time before Socialism arrives in India.

I think the situation in US is similar to that in India, where the discontent isn't as high, but mebbe because of different reasons. Please do correct me on this because I'm not totally aware of the situation prevailing in US. I guess u can give a better characterization of the prevalent situation in US.

However it is our responsibility to wage a war against the tyranny of Capitalism and forward the cause of Socialism. It is only when the masses become aware of the ills of Capitalism and Globalization, that they would stand and fight against it. And one way of doing it is having more of protests and demonstrations highlighting the ills of Capitalism and Globalization. The socialists of the country need to join hands. Attract masses, through cultural events, and enlighten them. Masses is the key to a revolution. I dont have a mature answer, but I hope i will have one soon.

cheers :)

In social terms, the Five Year Plans tranformed Russia from a primitive to a modern society. In education, literacy rose from 28.4 percent in 1887, to 56.6 percent in 1926, to 87.4 percent in 1939 and to 98.5 percent in 1959. In medical care, between 1913 and 1961, the number of physicians increased from 23,200 to 425,700, life expectancy rose from 32 to 70 year and infant mortality declined from 273 to 32 per thosand. Likewise in social services, Soviet citizens now enjoy free medical care, old age pension, sickness and disability benifits, maternity leaves, paid vacations and childern's aid

The communist countries are starting to unite. Yay!

Venezuela Becomes Cuba's Top Trade Partner

Venezuela has become Cuba's top trading partner, selling the Caribbean
island $1.4 billion in oil and other goods annually, Cuba's government
said Monday.

Trading has increased amid strengthening political ties between the two
countries under the leadership of presidents Hugo Chavez of Venezuela
and Fidel Castro of Cuba, who also share a close friendship.

The administration of President Bush has grown alarmed by the alliance,
with some U.S. officials characterizing Chavez and Castro as
troublemakers who are trying to destabilize Latin American democracies -
something both of them deny.

Cuba is now buying $1.1 billion worth of Venezuelan oil annually along
with another $300 million in food, construction materials, and other
products, Foreign Commerce Minister Raul de la Nuez said on the first
day of the island's annual trade fair.

De la Nuez predicted trade between the two nations could reach $2
billion annually by the end of 2006. "At this moment (Venezuela)
indisputably is the Cuba's top trading partner," he said.

Cuba, in return, has given Venezuela the services of thousands of
doctors and other health professionals, as well as other professionals.

The International Fair of Havana, featuring products from more than 40
nations, runs through Saturday at the Expo Cuba fairgrounds on the
capital's western outskirts.

My email to ehman in response to his review on my site.

Hi ehman,

You wrote me a review long time back and i haven't responded to it but thats for a reason. I was looking out for material which would prove that that socialism is the way to go.

http://www.greenleft.org.au/back/2005/646/646p12c.htm
http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0817-01.htm
http://mediamatters.org/items/200508220006

Do read those three articles when u get time and my reviews on these articles too. Very small articles, however sending out a very important message.

You commented that India being a populous country cannot survive with a socialist economy, because it doesn't need distribution of the resources but more production.

Well i dont know what your understanding about a socialist form of governance is, but socialism doesn't mean that you stop producing goods. Infact if you go by statistics, during the Great Depression of 1930s, when economies of all countries including that of US and UK were reeling, USSR was forging ahead at 17%. And so can you see from the Venezuelan example. And if you remember USSR was a very populous and poverty stricken country before the advent of communism over there. There were only two classes then, the Czars and the poor land-less farmers. And you know how powerful USSR became without impoverishing the masses of their country. I agree, later the centralizing of resources created other problems which should be discussed in a different light.

Capitalism runs only on profit motive. Even if you tons and tons of food produce, not everybody can buy it. Want to see where its happening?

http://www.marxist.com/famine-niger-horror-capitalism241005.htm

Those are the horrors of capitalism. A socialist government is governance for the masses and unlike capitalism which is only for the bourgeoisie.

cheers :)

Anticipation

The sound of my name, the way he utters is lovely
Breath of his love, which falls on my body

He smiles and whispers into my ears
Says, lovers we shall be, always dear

Pleasure of your company in whatever we are doing
Walking, around the hut, out in the gardens

Upto the woods, hand in hand, we are strolling
Around my face the cool breeze is soothing

Glasses of wine and sounds so relaxing
His attention to my little wishes

Doting on me like I were a kid
Million dreams spun and squeezed to live in this life

You concern for me, my comfort, my safety
As you bend down and kiss my beer barrel belly

I hold you in my arms and tell you
I will be fine my love, soon the baby will arrive

From my gf:)
