A friend told me a story a while ago about a mutual friend. I'll call the mutual friend Bob. Bob has kids, and one day his 4-year-old son did something he shouldn't have so Bob spanked him and sent him to his room. The kid stayed up there, quiet, until Bob's wife called him down for dinner. Bob and his wife thought nothing of this; they figured the kid was giving serious thought to the idea of actions and consequences, etc.

A few days later, the kid repeated the action that got him spanked to begin with. As Bob walked over to the boy, the boy stuck out his rear end and asked in a disturbingly coy voice, "Daddy spank?"

And I have been judging that family ever since.
