OK, this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I was tagged by Pattenicus, for whom I have infinite respect (I do sympathise with Bumapples, whose healthy and jaded cynicism always makes me chuckle, but I'm a sucker for mindless but fun diversion - he did influence my choice though, as I went out of my way to avoid anything too intellectual).

Instructions:

1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Post a comment and then tag five more people.

Something sent to me just now by Mr H - made me laugh out loud (good thing I'm on my own today!)

Worms and a lesson

A minister decided that a visual demonstration would add emphasis to his Sunday sermon.

Four worms were placed into four separate jars.

The first worm was put into a container of alcohol.
The second worm was put into a container of cigarette smoke.
The third worm was put into a container of chocolate syrup.
The fourth worm was put into a container of good clean soil.

At the conclusion of the sermon, the Minister reported the following results:

The first worm in alcohol - Dead.

The second worm in cigarette smoke - Dead

Third worm in chocolate syrup - Dead

Fourth worm in good clean soil - Alive.

So the Minister asked the congregation -

What can you learn from this demonstration?

Maxine was sitting in the back, quickly raised her hand and said,

'As long as you drink, smoke and eat chocolate, you won't have worms!'

That pretty much ended the service.

Wonderful picture, which really captured my imagination - I found it both poignant and sinister. Seen first on Caile's pages, and then on those of the ever eccentric Clogiron.

I still think it was criminal for BT to replace all these classics with the soulless and drab phone boxes we see on our streets nowadays.

Was in London today and saw Dustin Hoffman - he jogged right past our taxi. I was quite awestruck, which made me realise I am quite an unsophisticated country hamster, easily dazzled by the big city!

What fun!
