Julius Schmid (1854-1935, Austria0 - Ein Schubert-Abend in einem Wiener Bürgerhaus (Vienna, 1894, 172x255 cm, gallery: Wiener Männergesang-Verein).
One of my most favorite music paintings, a great pity there is not a wallpaper version of this wonderful painting. According to the 1997 Nikolaus Dumba exhibit catalog of the Wiener Stadt- und Landesbibliothek, some of Schubert's admirers encircling him in this painting include several of his historically authentic friends: Katharina Fröhlich (1800-1879), Sophie Müller (1803-1830), Eduard von Bauernfeld (1802-1890), Johann Baptist Jenger (1793-1856), Johann Michael Vogl (1768-1840), and Moritz von Schwind (1804-1871). Schmid had done extensive historical and archival research in order to reproduce as closely as possible the known portraits of these friends, their costumes, and the interior décor and furniture of this Biedermeier salon.

Gustavo Dudamel / SBYOV Shostakovich Symphony 10 II. Allegro.

BBC Proms 2007: Royal Albert Hall August 19, 2007 Simón Bolivar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela, Gustavo Dudamel, conductor.
This is the greatest conductor of today in the making: Gustavo Dudamel, allready hailed as the 'saviour' of classical music. The sheer passion, drive, color, rhythm, dynamics and control of GD is reminescent of the greatest Russian conductors from the 50's and 60's: Kyrill Kondrashin, Evgeny Mravinsky and Gennadi Roshdestvensky. That means this is better than todays conductors like: Valery Gergiev, Maris Janssons, Neeme Järvi, Simon Rattle, James Levine, Daniel Barenboim and many others.

YouTube - Gustavo Dudamel and the Teresa Carreño Youth Orchestra.
The Teresa Carreño Youth Orchestra plays a very passioned Shostakovich Symphony No. 10 Part II. Wonderful to see young musicians playing with this kind of (latin) fire. This is in some ways distantly reminescend of recordings from Maxim Shostakovich, Kondrashin, Mravinsky and Roshdestvensky, not as precise as these prestigious masters, but give them a break...they're all very young musicians. Gustavo Dudamel is one of the most talented young conductors nowadays, time will tell how he developes. I wonder how he would conduct refined composers like Mozart and Debussy.
I was lead to this page by my good friend fnfish (thanks!):
http://fnfish.stumbleupon.com/

"Teresa Carreño" Youth Symphony Orchestra Of Venezuela.
This visionary performance is a 50 years back-in-time-transportation to the years that there where hundreds of excellent conductors on the globe. This is what classical music is supposed to really mean: real feelings that a real audience can relate to. I am truly relieved and delighted that classical music is alive again...at last.

Rameau - Pièces de clavecin en concert N° 3 (Tambourin) / Il Giardino Armonico.

Il Giardino Armonico is one of the really great barock ensembles. Their passion, enthusiasm and pittoresque historical video locations are very inspirational. They share with viola da gamba player Jordi Savall and (to a lesser extend) the Venice Baroque Orchestra (Andrea Marcon) this magical touch that almost makes you believe they are transported from long gone centuries to this area by a time machine.

A. Vivaldi: The four seasons - SUMMER (RV 315) - Giulano Carmignola, violin, Andrea Marcon conducting the Venice Baroque Orchestra.
The Venice Baroque Orchestra gives the best (=most passioned, dynamical and colorful) performance of the 4 Seasons by Vivaldi. Il Giardino Armonico is a very good second place, but I like violinist Giulano Carmignola better, allthough Il Giardino Armonico has the better tempi. The VBO tends to play too fast here and there.
Also VBO:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u12_M4I2KxE

de Falla : Fantasia Baetica part 1 of 2 - Harry Vooren (1940-2003).
This is a recording of one of de Falla's hardest piano pieces by my last and beloved piano teacher Harry Vooren, with whom I had piano lessons from 1995-2003. The lightness, clearness and lightning fast dynamics are typicall of Harry Vooren, who was one of the best pupils of Alicia de Larrocha.
