Now that you know what kind of crap you totally don't need to buy ever again, let's focus on those necessities. A great face can be created night or day from products that cost a lot less than you might be paying. I try to put a price ceiling on certain categories and just don't even consider options that cost more. It really helps to cut out those lustful moments when you can be seduced by pseudo-scientific skincare and beauty babble.

A few years back, maybe that $65 Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish didn't seem like such a huge extravagance. But I'm guessing that with worries about jobs, mortgages and debt, you might balk at paying such prices now.

erin taylor's designs are based on simple lines and flattering shapes with fresh fabrics. she specialises in skirts, dresses, clutches and aprons. small production lines, hand picked, embellished fabrics, and an affection for the handmade are what draws clients to her work. her work is a collaboration of 5os style-lines, a loungewear mind-set, with a progressive twist...

a graduate of virginia commonwealth university's school of fashion design, she has decided to stay local and help promote and grow the artist scene in richmond, va. she works out of her studio in the fan, creating her patterns and producing her garments.

taylor's study abroad in paris allowed her to study under some of the most notable textile and fashion designers. her background in textiles is attributed to her strong sense of color and design, along with a 5 year stint at a fabric boutique. studying the art of handmade designs under skilled artisans, taylor has used chenille, beading, dyeing, and smocking techniques to create fabulous one of a kind designs.

My clay work is intended to be useful - this is art that is meant to be touched. In the past everything we used in the home was made by hand. Today our homes are filled with stuff stamped out by machines. When we seek out handmade art we make our surroundings a little more human.

I throw on the potter's wheel or use slabs of clay to hand-build my clay forms - then I that little something extra. I have two lines of pottery currently: my bird pottery and my texture/contrast serving pieces. I also have a line handmade ceramic jewelry.

I am an artist and designer trying to make a living through my craft. Everything I make incorporates the reuse/recycle philosophy--gosh, there area lot of lovely forgotten things out there. I also work hard to spread the word about the DIY Movement, and assist other crafty folks in finding their own bliss.
