Chronic Illness: Munchausen by Internet: Faking Illness Online

Ever thought that someone you were talking to online was faking an illness? Or that someone on a BBS who "died" seemed to be not really dead? It's not as uncommon as you may think. Lots of people, especially bloggers on places like livejournal, like to create "characters" and play out an illness in themselves or a "family member". Then they die, or commit pseuicied (fake suicide), wait for all the comments about how sad and terrible it is that they are gone, and create another character to do it all again. This article explains Munchausen by internet, a more serious kind of faking, where it becomes a deeply rooted pyschological issue, not just something someone does for attention.
