It's lunch time on the Miracle Mile, and people are roaming the streets in well-heeled packs. But between the fast food, taco trucks, and ubiquitous chicken and burger places, it is hard to keep it healthy. Or is it? Suddenly a silver taco truck appears, parked like an oasis on the side of Wilshire. Its funky green script reads Green Truck, and people are lined up down the sidewalk. Why? Because it is one of the first and only sustainable organic food trucks in the city of Los Angeles. And their food is good.

What do you do when you've forgotton your healthy snacks and your only option is...nothing but fast food joints? Do you give up and go eat the greasiest, cheapest burger and fries and then throw away a bag full of garbage? Your excuses to indulge in unhealthy and unsustainable fare are dwindling. These days, there's lots of diet-friendly options at most fast food purveyors, and they are also making strides towards being healthier for the planet too (some more so than others, so read on).

Follow the Appalachian Mountains by plane from West Virginia to Tennessee, and you'll see the scars left by mountaintop mining - huge gray gouges where coal companies stripped away the trees and blew off the tops of mountains to get at the coal inside.

In terms of economic development, Las Vegas' growth is an amazing success. But as a quarter century of satellite images show, sprawl comes at a high price.

A new series of NASA Landsat 5 images taken of the Las Vegas area over a 25-year period dramatically illustrates why some cities are finding it difficult to keep up with water demands

Eco-chick, I have a question. I have tried many, many eco-happy deodorants, and I always end up smelling quite unwholesome by the end of the day. I even had to make an emergency trip to Duane Reade today for some aluminum-B.O. warfare. Do you have any advice for us extra-stinky folk?
