Some of Becky's family came into town this past weekend. We were showing them the girls new school year pictures, and they were commenting on how the backdrop color brought their eyes out.

Well, with the Halloween season upon us I started thinking of a spoof where a ghoul family would say the same thing - of course with the ghoul eyes actually hanging out - lol.

Anyway, I have a pair of dangly eyeball glasses, so for your viewing pleasure and my own amusement, I give you my girls with new pictures :-)

I work for an environmental consulting company. They asked us for ideas for this years Holiday card. The best idea gets some sort of prize.

Anyway, mine was having a Holiday scene with the words "Naughty or Nice?" or alternatively a picture with co-workers by banners (I would be in the naughty group of course - lol). The inside of the card would say something like, "Hope you have Happy Holidays, but let us know if you've been naughty".

I like to joke around like anyone, but I rarely pay a lot of attention to office politics and gossip.

So, it wasn't a big deal learning today that two additional people were let go a week or two ago. Rather, it seems to be the norm for me to find out about certain things a while after the fact.

I guess I need to get out of my office more often - lol.

35 min: 28 secs for the 5KM (3.1 mile) time trial today - About 1 minute off my old record for the year.

Jogged 1 mile
Walked 1/4 mile
Jogged 3/4 mile
Walked 1/4 mile
Jogged 1/2 mile
Walked 1/4
Jogged 0.1 miles

Totals: Jogged 2.35 miles; Walked 0.75 miles
Just jogging the full 3.1 miles should allow me to meet my last goal for the year of beating 35 minutes.

Today has been rather unusual in hearing from or about 3 ghosts from my work past. Also, wanted to pay respect to a relative that passed about a week ago.

Just last week, I wondered what Charlene had been doing. And this morning, I got an e-mail from her with news of the passing of the ex-husband of a former co-worker. Then this afternoon, during my walk at the city park, I saw Beverly and her husband, whom I hadn't seen for 4-5 years or so.

In Memorial -
Husband of one of Becks cousin's - Bill Gillespie, 9/19/2009.
Ex-Husband of a Friend/Former co-worker - JD Blaine, 9/24/2009

A couple of pendants we picked up for Becky's treasure collection over the weekend. One will be for her past Birthday and the other for upcoming Xmas.

(L) Rainbow Calsilica - A microcrystalline calcite bonded with amorphous clay (allophane), and with silica also present. It has been described as vein matter or fracture fill formed when a copper push cut into volcanic rhyolite host rock.

(R) Sikhote-Alin Russian Meteorite (02/12/1947) - Composed of approximately 93% iron, 5.9% nickel, 0.42% cobalt, 0.46% phosphorus, and 0.28% sulfur, with trace amounts of germanium and iridium. Other minerals present include taenite, plessite, troilite, chromite, kamacite, and schreibersite.

I was joking with Becky, and said her meteorite might actually be a "Boeing Bomb" - a reference from the movie "Joe Dirt". Joe thinks he has a meteorite, but the inspector says it's dropped residue from a plane (Boeing Bomb) because of the presence of a courtesy peanut. Joe, in turn trying to save face, calls it a space peanut.

I overheard someone at work talking about going home and having a drink. I joked that I like mixing my beer with Benadryl. He jokingly called it a "Walking Coma", which I think is a great name for a drink if it doesn't already exist.

Now, I do enjoy a red beer (spicy V8 and beer mix) and bloody mary's particularly with tequila instead of vodka. I got a bit of an aversion to vodka as a young kid after we found a teen passed out in our yard. We called the police who picked him up/loaded him in his patrol car, where the guy proceeded to puke what appeared to be the result of imbibing too many "Screwdrivers".

Well, today was fun - nothing like reading directions. I managed to put together the new carpet cleaner, and hook up the new computer printer. I think I have directile dysfunction about right now.
