lots of activity around here as workers prepare to paint my house. Much needed powerwashing� and as I leave today, they're diligently scraping . . .� by painting, I mean major changes. No more green or white, it'll be much more subtle.

The link is from my daughter's church, which I've been attending on and off all summer. Some amazing things have been happening there, especially when you stop to think that most churches probably perform on the average of� 2 or 3 baptisms during the course of a year. BTW did you notice the angel on the ladder with Fernando? look look look

Shortly after the workmen left, they returned with news of an impending storm. We all worked diligently, moving boxes which had been in the garage, into a van and the big pieces went onto the front porch. No sooner had they left when the sky darkened, the wind whipped, and a torrential downfall descended. As I was running up the stairs to close windows, there was a deafening crash which stopped me in my tracks. Water was cascading from every inch of the roof, for I'm also in the process of having the drainpipes replaced and only yesterday, other workers had stripped them from the house. Afraid to continue on upstairs, I ran back down and out to the porch. There in the street is the scene that greeted me below. Seeing that it came from the neighbor's tree, I ran up the stairs once again and this time I did close the windows. In the room closest to that neighbor's house, a stand had fallen over, which had on it a basin and pitcher that my mother had made many years ago. The basin had shattered and the crash that I heard was the stand going over and probably, lightning hitting the tree next door.

As I write, the sky once again darkens and a distant thunder speaks in low, threatening tones, seeking out it's next victims. When, it ended 20 minutes after it started, it left a wet cop and a traffic jam in it's wake. Now once again the rain starts . . . gentler this time but building, no wind. I'll post some more pictures to take my mind off of it

internet connection lost but I have my aircard . . .rain building, thunder closer, drainpipe situation bad over my rear porch . . . sirens going by, power is off. My neighbor Don isn't home, hope his girlfriend isn't in there alone.

This is a shot of my front porch, taken this morning as I waited for the cement truck to arrive.� I bought the patio furniture second hand, scraped it down with a wire brush and painted it. There is also a glider on the oposite side and what Iike about every piece up here,� is that it either rocks, bounces or glides. Hard for me to sit still, I guess. The house will be painted, soon

I will refrain from commenting here except to say that these men worked very hard today and the slab completely transformed my shoddy garage

here you see the woodwork inside of the garage, specifically my new breaker box. it is built from old fashioned 2 by 4's, good solid barn oak and there is a chimney is for a wood burning stove. I've already located one and am going to get it installed, just like in olden days. There is also a ladder that goes to a loft above, which is also being wired for light.� I haven't been going into the garage because it's so funky but with the electricty and cement floor, all that will change

This pile of bricks was dug up from under the ground by none other than yours truly, ole lady, trying to get her gardening done. Previous owners� had something going on down there, can't say what, for sure. Going to use these vintage bricks and some others for a a nice old fashioned outdoor grill that will burn wood and charcoal

Don has been very cranky with me over the dogs, who are now so beautifully trained that they don't make a peep . . . unfortunately, damage is done and now I'm pretty much through with him. Still, he's very clever and he made these chairs that you see . . . probably made them for Tolstoy himself . . . link sent by ericpaul to me, it's just amazing

Having some much needed cement work done in the garage.� My brother Bobby was a cement man and before he died, he bought himself a Bobcat,� which . . .� everybody got mad at him because he didn't leave them any money.� I now see how handy they are in this sort of work, not that I ever begrudged . . .

here's the Bobcat and I'll show you what they do. Just as I was wishing that� Bobby could be here instead of these guys, I learned that one of the workman, a tall skinny guy . . . his name is Bobby :) See it dropping the old concrete into the dumptruck? How cool is that. . . give you a better view if stumble upon will permit. Link sent by my little pal from India, cabomba

oh well you get the idea . . . here's the rest of my driveway, which,� there is a bunch of gravel against the house. They're going to move that into the garage, and use for a base under the slab. That way I can plant roses along the way :) My contractor, Concrete Dave,� is a card player who comes here,. and also, my electrician, Jim . . . by the end of the week, I'll have full electricity complete with door genies and a beautiful slab. The garage is a converted storage barn and I'll tell you more about it another time.
