My vacation hath ended!

We leave on a flight out of here late Sunday afternoon. I sure am going to miss this place. It truly is one of the most beautiful spots on earth -- visually, audibly, and spiritually.

Though the occasional spiritual nuts on the corner I could do without.

My husband and I were walking along today, some woman trying desperately to get people to take a "Stress Test" and I laughed as I pointed to the Dianetics books on the table. They tried the same crap with us after leaving the London Underground, I think it was High Street. I didn't even look, I knew instantly, that they were Scientologists looking for new suckers, err, recruits.

The next corner down some guy was shouting about the end of days, the kingdom of heaven, blah, blah, blah. As though the volume in which he were shouting made what he was saying all the more true.

Personally, I don't give a damn. I care about THIS life that I have now. How we treat others TODAY matters. What good is it to try to make up for it in what very well may be a non-existent afterlife?

I'm not dogging people that believe, because I know we all need something to believe in. I think the whole style of recruiting to validate what it is you believe by the number of others whom also believe as you do is kind of asinine though. It's almost like asking people to gather up a pack mentality, to stop thinking for themselves, and just do whatever it is that they are told.

My word. This almost looks like an honest-to-goodness blog entry.

Here's a sunset from Friday. I won't see this view again until 2010.

I have now conquered weight on three battlefields. I lost 40 pounds by watching what I ate.� I quit smoking 3/29/2005 and had not packed on pounds from that. Before I gave birth to my twins I gained 90 pounds. I am now 30 years old. Still, I have managed to work my pregnancy weight off after three months of seriously trying.

If I can do it, anyone else can do it, with no other excuse than sheer laziness. "But I quit smoking." "But I'm over 30!" "But I HAVE KIDS!!!" Blah. Whatever makes you feel better about your sorry shape, right?
