this is another attempt at unsurance companies to appeal to "surface appearances" and the whole "outsides must match insides" mitote. as long as we have a world that believes pretty = better and a smile = happy well then....unsurance companies will be successful at denying benefits for the mentally or emotionally unwell.

poor thing. can you imagine having that kind of anger? she spent time calling him names [terrorist, rapist, son-of-a-bitch, abuser, hater, hurter, life-abuser] and threatening him and exaggerating deaths due to telemarketers... so she is probably lonely too. this is her life; yelling "her story" to a telemarketer she claims she doesn't want calling her.

How to Influence Anyone to do Anything
(Any one of 6 manipulative techniques you will learn by age 4.)
I'll break them down quickly.



1) The Law of Reciprocity - Bribery. Blackmail. Bargain.
2) Commitment and Consistency  - Remind lackey that s/he is unallowed to change streams.
3) Social Proof - Appeal to the Lemming "Everyone does it" mentality.
4) Liking - Turn into a gelatinous glob of 'people pleasing' so people will like you.
5) Authority - Pretend you know something when you may not or flaunt what you do know.
6) Scarcity - Turn a person's fear of inadequacy or loss against them.

1) Threaten to throw a fit or promise to clean his room.
2) Remind dad how he always buys him ice-cream.
3) Tell dad that all the other kids' dads will be buying their kid ice-cream.
4) Be extra sweet and dance a little jig for the relatives.
5) Share with dad how you have not had your daily calcium.
6) He's the worst dad in the world if he denies you a simple ice-cream.

High School as the Microcosm


This teacher sees the social norms - at least culturally. I could not help but notice he teaches in the deep south and from his stories, they mirror precisely the ones I see from adults in the world and online. Of course my sampling is smaller than 25 students and 6 or 7 periods of them 5 days a week but I concur on the validity of his perceptions of what he sees.
