I was going to write this really long review about how neither party in the discussion really reaches anything like logical parity, but I realized that it's pointless. You people don't care. You've already either A.) so thoroughly politicized any meaningful debate about conservation that rational minds can't prevail or B.) so completely apathetic about anything that takes place outside the disgusting circle surrounding your computer that your response would be, inevitably, "tl/dr".

You all make me sick. Here's two pieces of truth:

1.) Entropy is undeniable, physical truth; whether it's in a hundred years or a hundred billion, the shit on this planet will run out.
2.) You can lie in the comfortable bed of procrastination all you want , but you're just pushing our problems off your children, your children's children or your great-great-great-great grandchildren; the fact that the lot of you are... blithely alright with that... just sort of rams it home that we deserve the inevitable extinction we have coming to us.

@teenageanthem: Yay for subjectivity. Sorry, sweetheart, but to me Angels and Airwaves just doesn't match up. And I think the point the comic is making is that during the musical boom produced by our parents and grandparents, popular music---as a rule---was good. You didn't have to go hunt it down to find it, it was slathered all over the radios.

Today, it's true, you have to do a little work to find good artists. That's a damn shame, to be honest. Good people like Amos Lee and David Mead, spinning out their genius in relative obscurity. That's not something to be proud of, honey. Not at all.

Good Christ. I tell you what, the quality of StumbleUpon commentary just continues to drop right down the tube.

You mouthbreathers know what the phrase "tongue in cheek" means, right? How about something with fewer morphemes, since I know all those dang words just jumble those tiny little heads right up: joke.

@gneek: Way to strawman. Or, at the very least, way to reduce the argument to the point where it doesn't make sense anymore. Did you actually read the page, or did you just focus in on the first and last sentences. Yes, it is hypocritical to beg for a life on the premise that life is precious, then refuse to safeguard that life. "Large government programs" are a red herring in the argument, at best.

Booooooo. God this is a terrible poem. We really do have to stop patting each other on the back for this shit. Honestly, folks, writing a few hokey sentences about how you feel with weird line breaks doesn't make you a poet.

If that's what you think poetry is, then it's no wonder I keep seeing the same tired parade of bullshit march across my monitor.

A buddy of mine has set up a forum for the metered and intellectual debate of geopolitics, with a focus on predicting the outcomes of various happenings around the globe through research and deduction. We're all supposed to approach every topic as neutral, objective citizens of the human race, without regard for nationality or political party. It's an interesting thought experiment.

My friend is heavily interested in engendering a little decorum back into the realm of political and sociological debate (read: no trolls), so if you're interested in that kind of thing, I heartily suggest you stop by, join up, and start posting.

I think the darling of the boards right now is the tenuous situation in North Korea. Anyway, check it out.

EDIT: Unfortunately, the folks at StumbleUpon are apparently mildly retarded. In spite of the site actually being about politics, we can't seem to convince the masterminds that do the categorizing that it should be in politics. Instead, they want to waver the site between "Statistics" and "Entertaining". Awesome, right? Well, help us by inundating StumbleUpon's reporting feature with requests for them to put the site in "Politics".
