"Hello, is this the police?" "Yes it is".

How can we help you?"

"I'm calling to report my neighbour, Wazza.

He's hiding marijuana inside his firewood!"

"Thank you very much for the call. Can you give me the address please? . . .. Thank you, we will follow it up."

The next day, police officers descend on Wazza's house in great numbers.

They search the house and then go out to the shed where the firewood is kept. Using axes, they bust open every piece of firewood but they find no marijuana.

They swear at Wazza and leave. The phone rings at Wazza's house.

"Hey, Wazz, Did the cops come?" "Yeah!"

"Did they chop up your firewood?" "Yep."

"Happy Birthday Maaaaaaate!"

I would have read or been told this least ten times in my life and I have something to say about it.
If one's perspective is aligned with atheism, and the most relevant feature of that being no belief in a God. Then surely in my world, no belief in a god negates the need to consider the potential of a god in the first place? Thereby rendering existance of a deity impossible?
'Lack of belief in gods', which is what the above statement assumes me to want to be if I'm an athiest, is assuming the existance of deities in the first place. Which is not my standpoint, it's a shortsighted belief of people who cannot conceive a universe without deity. Which IMHO is an unresolved hegemonic reflex of the immature ego.
