Going Hiking

I'm planning to go wiggle my toes in some hot, white sand, and drink chai with red chile honey. I'm sure my internet access will be quite limited. I may drop in from time to time, but otherwise I'll be back in mid August.

shimmering with waves

white porcelain sculpted
with gentle fingers
into rivers of gypsum
indentations, crevices, emptiness

refilled

whispering footprints of ancestors
spoken, unseen
an impermanent collection of tiny particles
kissing your flesh
stinging, burning, life alive
evolving into a playground

the sensual laughter
of lizards
and beetles
roll downhill
and climb again
to survey the vista

a sky blue flame
of simple enchantment
burning through the piercing sunshine
casting a scarlet orange blossom
of nightflowers
onto variegated dunes

He is on the Advisory Board for NORML and is an activist for sustainable development including advocating for industrial hemp, which is far more sensible than many things we have going, and he is Green, Walking the Talk.

"We gotta do everything we can to get away from petrochemicals," he continues adamantly. "I think that is the No. 1 issue now -- and I never thought I'd say that over ancient trees. The No. 1 issue now is we've gotta get off the dinosaur tit and get back to basics."

These images are extreme close up photographs of chinaware that I've re-glazed and repainted.

I select plates that already have designs on them (usually floral). I then apply a crackle glaze and different colored paints, which give them extraordinary textures and colors. They are less than an inch across and are extremely fragile due to my unusual process.

The tiny designs break down and flake away just days later, but with care, my photographs allow their brief but beautiful lives to be captured forever.

clear mountain water dream
giggling bubbles dancing
on a floor of rocks
smoothed by experience
tickling playful toes
moving freely
never asking where it goes
it merely flows
and simply knows

frozen tears melt into
raging thunderous wash
deepening the gorge of time
cyclical dry beds of drought
extreme, extended
bake and purify foundations
immersed in the perfection
that simply is
distinctly so

cremated rubble
of humanity
