i don't blog often, however after a trip to ye aulde store to buy plain old fashioned underarm deoderant, I came away from the place shaking my head and muttering...Conditioners, moisturizers for the underarm area????? Awwww fer heaven's sake...unless someone's done some really destructive shaving or applying of stuff one shouldn't put in that region anyway (say sulfuric acid).... Is crusty, flaky, dry as one's over worked hands underarms a problem? A problem on a massive scale? On second thought...don't answer that ... it's a rhetorical question and I really DON'T want to know the answer *l* But, there must have been at least 15 products that were offering to solve this problem I didn't know existed.

I guess the guys in the back rooms have run out of ideas for persuading us that we really need different products for the forehead/nose, cheeks, hands, knees, earlobes...and whatever...so now they're trying to make us freak out about ooooogly scabby/ flaky crusty underarms.....

Petconnection seems to be one of the few places that are compiling the whole story. The recall is no longer confined to one manufacturer -- Purina (some of their Alpo canned dog foods) and Hills Prescription diet (W/D - for diabetic and overweight cats) have issued recalls in the last 24 hours.

This is just the opinion of one person...but at this point careful reading of wet and dry food, and pet treat labels for the presence of "wheat gluten" and perhaps "wheat flour" and avoiding them would seem wise.

Also, if you know people who do not have access to the net and have pets, print out information for them and keep them updated on further developments.

IMPORTANT CAT (and dog food news) http://www.menufoods.com/recall/ -- effects many "house brand" foods sold in the US -- there's a correlation between renal failure/death and this product line. Press Release and xls (database) list of brands/production dates etc...helpline listed in press release.
