These eyes shed a tear today
But only winter birds knew
For they saw it fall upon the ground
Amidst the autumn dew

And as it fell upon the soil
It formed a ripple in earth's core
Its tiny energy, so powerful
Even nature could not ignore

It rested there for just a second
But then its ripple made its way
Across the Atlantic Ocean
And to lands far away

Its energy was wandering
Like a celestial cavalier
And when it touched others
They too, would shed a tear

And just from a tiny tear drop
Mother Nature filled her skies
With tear-filled plumes of clouds
She unleashed her silent guise
Just as soon...
...as I turned to wipe my eye.

Welcome to the first-ever edition of the Wholly Holistic Carnival on Holistic Junction Haven!

Knowing where and who to turn to when seeking natural health care and holistic health education can be a big deal if you don't know what direction to take. With the help from a few avid healing arts bloggers, we're going to give you the scoop on what you need to know to move forward with your complementary and alternative medicine plans for life and for living.

But before we do, I wanted to fill you in on a little secret: Natural healing and personal fitness training is in...And it's here to stay, folks. In fact, the demand for complementary and alternative medicine has grown tremendously over these past few decades; namely because consumers are seeking natural and non-invasive ways to treat common and chronic health conditions. Occupational fields like massage therapy, chiropractic, and other natural health practices are on the rise -- and are expected to grow even more through the year 2016; but don't take my word for it, listen to what others have to say about holistic health and wellness: Check out the rest of ths blog post here: Wholly Holistic Carnival Blog

From Holistic Junction Haven...

Pressure Under Fire: I want to be like Sully
Many of you may know the quick-rise-to-fame man as the pilot, who successfully crash-landed US Airbus Flight 1549 into the Hudson River — but I personally want to be like Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger III, who showed dramatic courage and cool composition under fire. Don’t we all want to be like Sully? This is an individual, who proved once again that being under pressure — in fact, extreme pressure, can bring out either the worst or best in us. Luckily for the passengers and crew of Flight 1549, Sully, a former F-4 fighter jet pilot, sprung into precision action to become the hero of the day. Saving an estimated 155 passengers and crew, Sully pulled off one of the largest miracle landings in recent history.

What makes ordinary people do extraordinary things and accomplish superhuman feats? Flight or fight instinct. May sound a bit odd, but truly human nature plays a pivotal role in how we think, act, and react. In a second’s time, we are chosen to rise to an occasion — and how we respond to that event can and will determine the outcome of the rest of our lives. Think about Sully for a minute. It was his rapid response time that critically changed the course of his life, and the lives of all the passengers under his care. Had he spent too much time trying to figure out a solution, he could have compromised his life and the lives on the airbus. Fortunately, his fast instincts kicked into overdrive to save the day. The only irony of the “flight or flight” phrase is that Sully chose to do both - literally. Under any circumstances, “flight or fight” instincts kick in, prompting us to spring into action. For some of us, it’s better to walk away (or run away) from an encounter; and other times, we have to stay and fight the battle. Being that Sully just so happened to be a pilot, he had no choice but to merge these two instincts to survive. Combining both flight and fight instincts, Sully became — for those few suspended moments in history — the hero in what could have imminently been a tragic situation.

While we can applaud his superhuman landing on the Hudson, we need to recollect all the forces that were working together that day. Forces? In addition to remarkable thinking and action, Sully had all the right elements in place for success. How is a crash successful? Out of the ashes arose tremendous efforts that quickly came together to avert tragic consequences. What if Sully hadn’t had his 23-year veteran co-pilot, Jeff Skiles, alongside him? What if the bird collision had happened at any other point in the flight? What if the ferry boats weren’t in the area at the precise time that the airbus crash-landed? You see, a lot of components went into crafting the positive outcome on the Hudson. There were a lot of “what ifs” that didn’t happen; and a lot of “can dos” that did.

Metaphysical Philosophy and Practices: Ancient Healing for the New Age

For some of you, metaphysics (including the paranormal) might be a little off the beaten path...but don't toss out the baby with the kitchen sink before you truly understand what these sometimes taboo subjects are all about. Today you might find metaphysical teachers and healers in the most unlikely places and times throughout the course of history. Famed German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche once said, "Art is not merely an imitation of the reality of nature, but in truth a metaphysical supplement to the reality of nature, placed alongside thereof for its conquest." Though metaphysics may not have a "material body" or specific "form," it is after all a diverse system of beliefs; therefore, it is both "quality" and "action"- at least when we subject its definition to what a noun is; a person, place, thing, quality, or action.

History's famous metaphysical leaders...

Historical figures, including 50 Nobel Laureates had a belief in God; including Albert Einstein, T.S. Eliot, Winston Churchill, and Martin Luther King, Jr., and several other well-knowns. Even the Founder of the Theory of Evolution, Charles Darwin, had a belief in God. Whether you subscribe to any religious or spiritual faction, philosophy, or other belief system -- it is metaphysical in nature to some degree. That being said, there are a number of metaphysical studies including religion, spiritual healing, psychic phenomena, higher consciousness, cosmology, energy healing, and intuition, among other specialized areas of metaphysics.

Acupuncture Certification FAQs

Acupuncture certification is an important step in practicing this alternative healing art. Students interested in earning the valuable credential of acupuncture certification must first complete required coursework and successfully graduate from one of several acupuncture schools.

In general, acupuncture certification programs extended through one of many Oriental medicine schools or acupuncture schools will include three or four-year studies to help students gain the necessary skills and knowledge to practice acupuncture. In addition to acupuncture needling techniques, students will learn about Chinese Medicine, principles, and philosophies; and will gain practical clinical and classroom training. In many cases, students who aspire to earn acupuncture certification will discover that many acupuncture schools will combine education in acupuncture with Oriental medicine, including courses in Tui Na, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and medical Chinese terminology; and associated education in anatomy, physiology, and other respective subjects of study. Read the rest of this article here: Acupuncture Certification

Holiday (Career) Resolutions: Diamonds in the Rough

A how-to list on rising above the economic downturn, and achieving the career of your dreams

Every December 31st, many of us go through the intentional ritual of creating resolutions for the ensuing New Year. Though we compile lists to quit smoking, lose weight, find the love of our life, or get a new job, we often fall off the New Year bandwagon because we give up before we ever get started. You see, the “intention” is there; it’s just that all too often, we get carried away by the fanfare of yesterday’s lifestyle and forget all about the resolutions we’ve intended to keep.

Our holiday resolutions are diamonds in the rough. When we take the time to clean away the debris and buff them to a spotless shine — we get a finely-tuned, well-oiled motivational machine that is ready for just about anything. What does that have to do with the resolutions we make? A whole lot, if you ask me. A good example of one of the most pronounced resolutions is a positive career change; or if unemployed, finding a stable and financially-rewarding job. In this economic crunch, there’s a lot to be said about employment (and lack thereof); which has unfortunately (or fortunately*) displaced many a worker. *It really depends on the perception you have of your current status; and what you do with that situation to realize the career of your dreams. Read the rest of this blog here: http://school.holisticjunction.com/blog/
