Unlooked for...

Seeking, spiraling through uncharted waters
Reaching out for someone who understands.

A spark, smiling lips and mysterious bits
Reveal the heart of a Saint.

Stumbling words reach deep
To quell my fears
And send me bumping along my new path.

Heart-felt hugs across a vast distance,
More real than the hugs I sometimes steal
From those who should know.

Prairie flowers and poetry
Music and the Love of Jesus.

Watching blind eyes reveal the truth of miracles
While others wait on a bus.

Pulling children from cages,
While still having moments to share
For used up hippies who should know better.

Beauty beyond comprehension
Hidden from view but clearly present.
Radiates in everything you say
Everything you write
Everything you do.

Depth of knowledge
Truth of word and deed.

Honesty filled with grace
And Angelic style.

Hope and care
Friendship unimagined.

From an unlikely place,
You help me walk.

Living water and rock
Truth and freedom are yours to share
With the lucky few
Who have the chance to know.

Unknowingly you inspire me,
With the way you walk your path.

Life is changing
Needful change.

With help that was unlooked for...
Perched on rocks, stable in the earth.
Built near water: living water of the Spirit.
Crashing waves and rough seas.

In dangerous territory: lives are at stake.

Providing light in the darkness. A light is only needed in the dark places.

Meeting an old friend for the first time...

Talking for hours, seems like minutes, seems like weeks.
Watching ice cream melt all over the table-but it doesn't matter.
The ice cream isn't the point anyway.
Meeting an old friend for the first time, minutes after hearing your voice for the first time.
That's the point.

My heart pounding in my chest, but knowing it will be OK.
Waiting for the soft landing, the easy words when they should be hard.
Comfortable excitement.
I knew you before I even saw your face.
Sitting on a bench.
Talking to a little girl with a kitten.

I already know the story, but the details, oh the meaningful details that make it worthwhile.
Thirty-two going on sixteen.
Forty-two going on twenty.
Doing the "right thing"-both of us.
But what is that, really?

Brought together by a translucent sea creature.
Stories of frogs and turtles.
Children and lovers.
Pain and redemption.

You describe me as "normal".
What a gift!
What freedom!
I will look at myself through your eyes.
Try to see what you see.
Will you help?

We can help each other
To see the truth that we are.
To see the hope that is within us both.
To define the "right thing".
To be old friends...

President George W. Bush visits a primary school classroom. They are
in the middle of a discussion about words and their meanings.

The teacher asks the President, would he like to lead the discussion
on the word "Tragedy". So, the illustrious leader asks the class for
an example of a tragedy......

Little boy stands up and offers: "If my best friend, who lives on a
farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs him over and kills
him .. that would be a 'tragedy'."

"Fraid not son!", says Bush, ... "but, that would be an 'accident'"
A little girl raises her hand: "If a school bus carrying 50 children
drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, .. that would be a 'tragedy'."

"I'm afraid not," explains the President. "That, .. we would call a
'great loss'."

The room goes rather silent. No other children volunteered.

Searching the room .. "Isn't there someone else, who can give me an
example of a 'tragedy'?" Finally, at the back of the room, a small
boy raises his hand. In a quiet voice he says:

"If Air Force One, carrying you, Mr. President, was struck by a
'friendly fire' missile and blown to smithereens, that would be a
'tragedy'?"

"Fantastic!" exclaims Bush. "That's right, and can you tell me why
that would be a 'tragedy'?"

"Well," says the boy, "because it certainly wouldn't be a 'great
loss' and it probably wouldn't be a f***ing 'accident' either."

From the page: "President Bush was scheduled to worship at a small Methodist Church
outside Washington, D.C. as part of Karl Rove's campaign to reverse
Bush's rapidly deteriorating approval ratings. A week before the
visit, Rove called on the Methodist Bishop who was scheduled to preach
on the chosen Sunday. "As you know, Bishop," began Rove, "we've been
getting a lot of bad publicity among Methodists because of the
president's position on stem cell research and the like. We'd gladly
arrange for Jack Abramoff's friends to make a contribution of $100,000
to the church if during your sermon you would say that President Bush
is a saint."

The Bishop thought about it for a few minutes, and finally said, "This
parish is in rather desperate need of funds ... I'll agree to do it."

The following Sunday, Bush pompously showed up for the photo op,
looking especially smug even while attempting to appear pious.

After making a few announcements, the Bishop began his homily:
"George W. Bush is a petty, vindictive, sanctimonious hypocrite and a
nitwit. He is a liar, a cheat, and a low-intelligence weasel with the
world's largest chip on his shoulder. He used every dirty election
trick in the book and still lost, but his toadies in the Supreme Court
appointed him. He lied about his military record in which he used
special privilege to avoid combat, and then had the gall to dress up
and pose on an aircraft carrier before a banner stating "Mission
Accomplished." He invaded a sovereign country for oil and war
profiteering, turning Iraq into a training ground for terrorists who
would destroy our country. He continues to confuse the American people
by insisting on a nonexistent connection between the horrors of 9/11
and the reason he started his war in Iraq. He routinely appoints
incompetent and unqualified cronies to high-level federal government
positions and as a result, hundreds and hundreds of Americans died
tragically in New Orleans. He lets corporate polluters despoil God's
creation and doom our planet. He uses fear-mongering to justify
warrantless spying on American citizens, in clear violation of our
Constitution. He is so psychotic and megalomaniacal that he believes
that he was chosen by God. He is the worst example of a Methodist I
have ever personally known. But compared to Dick Cheney and Karl Rove
and the rest of the evil fascist bastards in this administration,
George W. Bush is a saint."

Swiped from griffcj (griffcj.stumbleupon.com) who swiped it from maddogcanada (maddogcanada.stumbleupon.com).

I've not seen it all laid out in such a compact, all inclusive form like this. Wonderfully insightful!.

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

From Dune by Frank Herbert

I've been ruled by fear for so long. I'm on a mission to remove it from my life. This is one of the best quotes ever!. I know the Bible has some good words against fear, too. I'll try to find some stuff in there and post it soon...
