The Desi Youtube

Finally the 1.1 billion strong Indian population has got a video sharing website specifically made for them. Aapkavideo.com is a new video sharing website featuring Indian Videos including bollywood videos, cricket videos, user generated videos, TV shows, trailers and much more. For those who don't understand Hindi, "Aapka Video" means "Your Video" in English.

Aapkavideo works like any other free video sharing website like YouYube or Google video, the only difference being the here are are of Indians, by Indians and for Indians.

You can upload videos to Aapkavideo in a variety of formats including wmv, .mpeg, .mpg, .avi, .mpe, .mov, .movie, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .qt, .mpv2, .mp2v, .mpe, .asf, .asx, .avi ,.wm, .wmx , .3gp , .mp4 and .rm etc. The maximum size of the videos which can be uploaded is 100MB which is pretty much sufficient in my opinion.

Videos on Aapkavideo are currently broadly categorized into seven different categories including General, Entertainment, Comedy, Sports, News & Blogs, Travel & Places and Techzone. The website also supports tagging of videos which helps in categorizing the videos and also helps in getting better search results.

The website is currently giving away free iPods for most popular videos every month to promote addition of quality user-generated content to the website. Now you can also access Aapkavideo from your mobile phone, AapkaVideo Lite is the mobile version of AapkaVideo that allows you to access, browse and upload videos from your web-enabled mobile phone.

Cell Phone Superstore

The following is a paid review:

Wirefly.com is one of the leading Internet-based stores handling cellular phones, plans and accessories. Wirefly claims to be internet's No:1 seller of wireless phones.

The strength of Wirefly in my opinion lies in the simplicity of their website. Right from the front page, you get the choice of shopping by brand, by carrier or by plan type. I found this kind of layout very easy to navigate, which is very much essential for a website like Wirefly.

Another great thing about Wirefly is the variety of phones available on it. Almost all brand of phones in the market can be found at Wirefly, including Nokia, Samsung, Amp'd Mobile, LG, Blackberry, Audiovox, Firefly, Kyocera, Motorola, Novatel Wireless, Palm, Sanyo, Sony Ericsson and UT Starcom. It also offers a variety free and discounted phones from carriers such as Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, T-Mobile To Go, Sprint, Nextel, Cingular, Cingular GoPhone, Liberty Wireless, Alltel, U.S. Cellular, Disney Mobile, Virgin Mobile and Amp'd Mobile.

Also, every phone comes with a very thorough description of most of its features. In this area, Wirefly.com truly shines compared to most other sites I have been to. Each phone description is a long page with the phone's features broken down by highlights, core features, additional features, cool features and personalization, and what would be the essentials such as weight, dimensions and the band on which the phone operates. In addition, Wirefly seems to have many detailed photos of the various phones.

Wirefly is only available in US, so I can't buy phones from it. But I still check it out for updates on new phone launches. Check out the specs of the just released phones BlackBerry 8300 and the Samsung Upstage for Sprint. You can also sign up for alerts about the much awaited, upcoming Apple iPhone.

Volunteer for a better world in future

I live in India and live a fairly comfortable life. But there are large number of people in my country who do not even enjoy the basic needs of food, shelter and education. Not just in India but many countries around the globe. These people need help from the global society.

Cosmic Volunteers can help you do just that. They offer volunteer programs in Africa, Asia, and South America.
Fun flash games

I don't play much of games, but enjoy a good one occasionally. But my cousin who is a lot younger than me can Play Games non-stop. Whenever he comes to my place he has nothing else to play other than flash games on the internet, but he is always short of good flash games and asks me to find a good one. I got a chance to review Game-2-play.com which has over 150 flash games. The nice part is that you do not have to register to play these games although you need a free registration to enjoy unlimited free play. So next time my cousin comes to my place, I have a good place to look for.
