holy crap. the author takes great pains to fully "illuminate" the passage, but he misses the whole damn point!

He doesn't address the fact that the woman had zero say in any part of this--it's all about the man bringing shame up on her for deflowering her outside marriage.

How 'bout, oh, say, the fact that he caused physical pain, or that he took something that didn't belong to him, or the notion that he didn't have fucking squatter's rights?
